I hate to say never say never. But these records do look pretty unbreakable. Along with Alabama's 150 national titles and 900 bowl appearances...Ha!

CFB records that will never be broken.

Rushing yards per game, individual in a season
Record: 238.9 ypg, by Oklahoma State's Barry Sanders in 1988.

Longest winning streak
Record: 47, by Oklahoma in 1953-57.

Most passing yards, one half
Record: 517, by Houston's Andre Ware on Oct. 21, 1989.

Total offense, yards per game
Record: 624.9, by Houston in 1989.

Most punting yards in a game
Record: 1,318 by Texas Tech's Charlie Calhoun on Nov. 11, 1939.

Average rushing yards per game, team
Record: 472.4, by Oklahoma in 1971.

Most interceptions thrown in a game
Record: 9, by Florida's John Reaves vs. Auburn on Nov. 1, 1969.

Rushing yards allowed per game
Record: 17.0, by Penn State in 1947.

Most seasons rushing for 1,500 yards
Record: 3, by:
Pitt's Tony Dorsett (1973, 1975-76)
Georgia's Herschel Walker (1980-82)
Miami of Ohio's Travis Prentice (1997-99)
Northern Illinois' Garrett Wolfe (2004-06)
Oregon's LaMichael James (2009-11).

Consecutive games catching at least two passes
Record: 53, by Houston's Tyron Carrier from 2008-11.

Here are a few more I'm adding from a Bleacher article:

Most Rushes in a Season:
Record: 450 by Kevin Smith, UCF, 2007

Most Interceptions in a Season:
Record: 14 by Al Worley, Washington, 1968

Most Sacks in a Season:
Record: 24 by Terrell Suggs, Arizona State, 2002

Any more NCAA CFB records that will "never" be broken?

Most punting yards in a game (1,318) back in 1939 will be almost impossible to break.

Say the guy averaged (Charlie Calhoun) 40 yards per punt...he punted the ball 33 times
during the game. Unbelievable!

Texas Tech punted the ball 39 times , their opponenet (Centenary) punted 38 times.

The weather conditions were so bad that TT only ran 12 plays that werent punts as they resorted to punting on 2nd down most times they had the ball.

This game also holds the ncaa record for fewest yards gained by both teams as they combined for a grand total of 30 yards.

The game ended in a 0-0 tie.

Here's one that could possibly be tied but will probably never be broken. Most touchdowns scored on punt returns in a single game: Record: 3 by Antonio Perkins, Oklahoma vs UCLA. I was at that game. There was a collective gasp every time UCLA punted the ball that day. I remember I kept telling my buddy "why in the hell does UCLA keep punting to him?"

hmm, baylor came pretty damn close to breaking the yards per game # last year. i believe they were way ahead of houston's pace before the final 4 games and finished just 6 ypg off the record

i could see that one being broken for sure

ha ha that's an insane # of punting yards/game

I definitely thought it could have been broken after Baylor's first 4 games. I think if it's going to be broken, it's probably going to have to be a team at the lower FBS level or Baylor again. Baylor is kind of the exception to the rule since Briles continues to refuse to schedule tough OOC games. And he doesn't let up on anybody he plays.

John Reaves record is going nowhere.

John Reaves is Lane Kiffin's father-in-law (fyi) - he's the father of Layla Kiffin. He's also a big drunk. Was canned from Steve Spurrier's UF staff. He was on Spurrier's first UF coaching staff in 1990 (for a few years before Spurrier cut his drunk ass loose!)...
