Welp...This is about as clear as mud....

College Football Playoff announcements ...

The College Football Playoff Committee made a couple of notable announcements Wednesday.

* The selection committee will meet in person on Mondays and Tuesdays for seven consecutive weeks to formulate the rankings.

* The first rankings will be released on Oct. 28 (think BCS rankings but now tabulated by actual persons, guidelines for rankings found below)

* The other dates for interim rankings will be Nov. 4, 11, 18, 25 and Dec. 2. The final rankings, and playoff match-ups will be set on Sunday, Dec. 7.

* A special note was made on the 'recusal' policy. This from the USA Today, 'The committee spent much of Wednesday discussing the recusal policy for selectors. Selection committee members will be recused from discussing a school "if they or an immediate family member recieves compensation ... or has professional relationship" with said school. Committee will also have the option to add other refusals if special circumstances arise.

College Football Playoff Selection Committee - Voting Protocol

1.) Each committee member will create a litst of the 25 teams he or she believes to be the best in the country, in no particular order. Teams listed by more than three members will remain under consideration.

2.) Each member will list the best six teams, in no particular order. The six teams receiving the most votes will comprise the pool for the first seeding ballot.

3.) In the first seeding ballot, each member will rank those six teams, one through six, with one being the best. The three teams receiving teh fewest points will become the top three seeds. The three teams that were not seeded wil be held over for the next seeding ballot.

4.) Each member will list the six best remaining teams, in no particular order. The three teams receiving the most votes will be added to teh three teams held over to comprise the next seeding ballot.

5.) Steps No. 3 and 4 will be repeated until 25 teams have been seeded.

Notes:

A. Any "recused" member can participate in Step No. 1, but cannot list the team for which he or she is recused. "Recused" teams (i.e., teams for whom a member has been recused) receiving at least three votes in Step No. 1 will remain under consideration.

B. A recused member can participate in Step No. 2, but cannot list the recused team. If a recused team is within one vote of advancing to the poll, that team will be pooled with theam (or teams) receiving the fewest votes. A "tie-breaker" ranking vote will be conducted among those teams to identify the team or teams that would be added to the pool.

C. A recused member cannot participate in Step No. 3 if the recused team is in the pool.

D. Between each step, the committee members will conduct a thorough evaluation of the teams before conducting the vote.

E. After the rankings are completed, any group of three or more teams can be reconsidered if more than three members vote to do so. Step No. 3 would be repeated to determine if adjustments should be made.

F. After the first nine teams are seeded, the number of teams for Step No. 2, 3 and 4 will be increased to eight and four respectively.

G. At any time in the process, the number of teams to be included in a pool may be increased or decreased with approval of more than eight members of the committee.

H. All votes will be by secret ballot.

Clover...Your wish is my command. Here are the 13 members. The SEC (of course), Pac-12 and Big 10 are well represented. The Big 12 not represented well at all imo. But I don't see good days ahead for the Big 12 anyway. So it may be a mute point.

The link leads to the names of the 13 committee members and their backgrounds. Chairman is Jeff Long from Arkansas "Hog lock" and lone member with ties to the Big 12 is Oliver Luck from West Virginia.

Other members are
Barry Alvarez Wisconsin
Lt. Gen Micheal Gould USAF Academy
Pat Haden USC
Tom Jernstedt Oregon and long time with NCAA
Archie Manning Ole Miss
Dr. Tom Osborne Nebraska
Dan Radakovich Clemson
Condoleezza Rice Stanford and Alabama native
Mike Tranghese Big East
Steve Wieberg Missouri
Tyrone Willingham Mich State Alumni and coach at Notre Dame, Stanford and Washington

Why for God's sake the PC bullshit with Condoleessa Rice? Nothing against Mrs. Rice and her service for our country, but being on this committee SMELLS!

I got to WONDER how fair and balanced Barry Alvarez will be...think he would vote for Arkansas if they ever deserved contention? Hell, Barry ain't going south period.

Jesus...Tyrone Willingham....WHY? Guess they needed a black guy. (Just being honest)

As a whole....this committee SUCKs in my opinion.

Mack my friend...being from the farm, cow manure and horse crap ain't much of a concern for you or me. I'm guessing if you are like me, you did a lot of shoveling during your day.

What is your concerns/doubts about this committee? Me, I want "true "college football people. Love Manning, love coach Osborne....would have like to have seen more guys like them. Former coaches like Bobby Bowden and Vince Dooley...plus expert retired coaches from other conferences.

Today, everything is SO XXXXXXX politically correct. Hell, why not Hillary Clinton for XXXXXX sake. Yeah, that's the ticket....Hillary.

There is going to be so much controversy over this, they know it, which is why they brought in Rice. Anybody know more about skirting controversy than her? Expect a lot of turnover.
