GAME NOTES: The North Texas Mean Green will try to remain undefeated in Sun
Belt Conference play when they take on the New Mexico State Aggies in an early
week matchup from Las Cruces on Tuesday. The Mean Green were on a bye this
past week, as they were able to celebrate their third straight SBC
championship. It will also mark the third consecutive trip to the New Orleans
Bowl for North Texas, which extended the longest conference winning streak in
the nation to 17 games on November 15, with a 58-14 trouncing of Arkansas
State. The Mean Green have a chance to record their second straight undefeated
conference season and clinch head coach Darrell Dickey's third consecutive SBC
Coach of the Year award. Tuesday's game will be the final home tilt for 18
Aggie seniors who are hoping to end their collegiate career on a winning note.
Unfortunately, winning hasn't been in the NMSU vocabulary of late, dropping
two of the last three games and posting a record of just 3-8 overall this
year. The Aggies were also on a bye last weekend after having lost to Arkansas
by a score of 48-20 on November 15. The Aggies may be pumped for this contest
as it will be their first nationally televised game at home in school history.
The Mean Green hold a 20-9-2 series advantage on the Aggies and have won seven
of the last eight meetings. These two teams met last season in a battle for
the SBC championship and a New Orleans Bowl berth, with North Texas scoring 17
fourth-quarter points and pulling out a 38-27 victory in Denton.

Look for the mean green to start slowley aganist a fired up aggie team but in the end north texas will remain unbeaten in confernce play and run all over the aggies and cover the spread.

North Texas -8
