Does buzz for this movie seem to be picking up to you?

How about some theater reports.

there is no buzz for Little Black Book. None. It fell down to #9 on Yahoo movies, still ahead of Collateral

here's a Collateral report, finally someone that agrees with me:

"Went to the first (1:20) show in a 400 seat theater. About 30 people there.

Previews
The Forgotten
Team America
Ladder 49
Hero
Shark Tale

Not much crowd reaction to any of the previews, but then there was not much of a crowd. I think Hero might be a sleeper.

I enjoyed the feature presentation. The script demanded a great performance from Foxx, and he delivered. Cruise was believable as an assassin, although the dialogue has him talking about I-Ching and nihilism. While I enjoyed this film, I don't see it doing well at the BO. It should do about MCHUR numbers, maybe a little more since it's opening on a less crowded weekend.

well it doesn't sound like it has a chance to go under 20,
icon_biggrin.gif
, but I guess it was worth a shot as long as it stays under 27.

"12:00 Showing
300 seat theater, about 1/3(100 people) full, mostly college students, older men and quite a few women (I guess because Cruise).

Trailers
- Seed of Chucky - I am really getting tired of this one
- Ladder 49 - I really like this trailer and so did the crowd
- Hero - WOW WOW WOW
- AVP - Seen it enough, but the crowd digged it

Movie
- Without a doubt Cruise's best performence ever. He is so good at playing The Villan and its just awesome to watch him. Like most of Mann's films is mellow and character driven, which is not a bad thing considering how good Jamie Foxx and Jada Pinkett Smith are. I did not know if Foxx could pull it off, but he did and is AWESOME. The story was great and it all comes toghter in the end and there are a few twists and turns along the way. Great movie I am expecting great numbers and I think this will have legs.

17 people in an afternoon showing of Little Black Book. that's not too bad, I guess, its a little better than 15. plus it's a date movie, if there are any suckers out there that are willing to get dragged to this p.o.s. they'll be there tonight.

"LBLBK - theater report - 1 pm - Starcité, Hull/Gatineau, P.Q. (spoiler?)
-- Diapason, Aug 6, 17:21
I wanted to see Collateral but I did not have the patience to wait 45 minutes more.

There were exactly 17 persons in the theater, all females.

TRAILERS
- KRANK (a few laughs)
- FRGOT (no reaction; seems good to me)
- RVOIC (no reaction)
- 1STDF (no reaction)
- LAD49 (which trailer does not belong to the same category? anyway, if there was any reaction I could not hear in the middle of explosions and shoutings)

LBLBK
I don't like this type of movies. All fabricated for dating and young females. I have to admit, though, that I laughed out loud, twice. The actors are pretty good considering what they have to do. This week I came this close to post a complaint about the trailer (which I had seen before MCHUR) using Carly Simon's "Let the River Run". Well, there's a lot more of Carly Simon in the movie. A lot more.

here's the "usher report" from HSX:

"Sorry this is early and shot guys, but I'm on vacation. COLAT is seeing decent business, probably in the neighborhood of a 24-27M weekend. LBLBK is performing poorly, and I wouldn't be surprised to see less than a $3M Friday. As for my picks, I'm shorting both.

I wish you luck this weekend, and I'll be back online tomorrow night.
"

I shouldn't have bothered with the uner 20 bet at Intertops, but the +550 was too tempting.

The thing is... they do hit! sometimes. Like last week +450 hit. And not too long ago a +650 hit.

I don't know, it seems like the "usher report" dude knows what he's talking about, so I guess it's gonna do 8.4 million.

the Yahoo user review guru says that Little Black Book isn't doing much better than Thunderbirds. So even if you did, it might go under 6.

Under 9 million

and...

Intertops: Collateral...

27 million to 32 million.

The reason I took the over for Tom Cruise at Itops...

He was on all the talk shows... and morning shows... the excellent reviews... and if Bourne Sumpremecy can make 52 million with Matt Damon being the only star.... Tom can make at least 28 million.

don't know if Collateral will make it over 27, but it might. As for this theater report, it sounds like I should have grown a sack and taken the under 6 for Little Black Book. The only reason I didn't is because the line was "only" +250.

"COLLATERAL maybe did half what other major movies have done recently.

THE VILLAGE dropped off big-time -- probably below BOURNE SUPREMACY, which had somewhat of a drop from last Friday.

HAROLD & KUMAR seems to be holding up well for us; it was actually pretty close to matching last Friday's attendence. If it had opened 3 or 4 weeks later once school was back in, I think we'd be doing really well on this one.

LITTLE BLACK BOOK is D.O.A. Our busiest show of the day had 9 people. NINE!!!! Less than double digits. I can't remember the last time we had something doing this poorly. We've done 4 preview screening over the past week with an average attendance of around 250, which translated to maybe 30 people actually paying to see the movie. Pathetic!

not many crowd reports for Collateral, and a couple for Little Black Book, which is bombing. The yahoo user reviews guys predict an 8-11 million friday for Collateral. I'd guess that it made 8. Little Black Book might have made 2?.

The reason I wasn't sold on Collateral is I didn't like the trailer that much. Maybe I'm just burned out on action flicks, but the story doesn't look too interesting, basically a guy going around shooting people with some chase scened thrown in. It also looks a bit dark, and the sets, direction, and cinematography actually look kinda amatuerish to me, by today's standards, although I know Mann is a decent director. Heat actually had the same dark feel to it. It made 67 million back in the day which might be 80 now, I don't know. With the great reviews, Tom Cruise, and Jamie Foxx, under 20 million was a loooooong shot, but, by the looks of it it's gonna struggle to get over 27.

I guess, it's hard to say, there haven't been many theater reports, and the reports I've seen are of 95% full theaters, no sell-outs. But I guess it's likely.

yahoo user review dude:

"My final projections:
Collateral: 8.3m-10.7m

LBB: 1.3m-2.3m with a chance of it being even lower.
