During the time that the CIA were shipping arms to the Contras, it is noted that their was a very big drug ring distributing cocaine into atleast the Las Angeles area to help finance this operation. It is a widely made assertion, especially by those in the market that the Bush family has for many years profited from the distribution of cocaine into the United States. All along playing the War on Drugs tune. I am of the belief that the family has long been involved with cocaine distribution. Why not a little weed? Cocaine, being such an addictive drug will result in more sales. Now, with that being said, I remember last summer watching Dummy sweating while down in Columbia visited the President and writing a check to assist in the So called War on Drugs. I believe this financing is more of a payoff to help stop some of the competition moreso than to help stop the total distributions into the US. The cocaine brought in fueled a crack bombardment in urban America. War on drugs my ass. The Righty confessions of being all mighty about their moral character is Bullshit. Either way people this new breed of cocaine now is a serious demise to the country as a whole. Having been gathered around several Meth addicts today, I had to stop and drop my head as it was so saddening to see the result upon these young adults who walk like the living dead and there is little hope that they will seek or get help from this dreadful addiction. Just sharing some thoughts here.

Both governments(Bush & Uribe) proclaim their policies are working. The White House reports that aerial fumigation of coca fields has cut cultivation by 20 percent for the second year running. Drug seizures have prevented tons of cocaine from reaching the United States. Captures of drug traffickers have escalated and Uribe has signed record numbers of U.S. extradition orders.

Yet, these statistics don’t tell the whole story. The White House cannot explain why there has been no impact yet on the streets of U.S. cities, and the drug czar has not even acknowledged that, according to the most recent figures from the Rand Corporation, the price of street cocaine in the United States has actually fallen by 31 percent since Plan Colombia began in 2000.

All those welfare programs liberals espouse must not be working, general. All the welfare money is going up someone's nose. Time to try something else.

I believe in rugged individualism, and personal responsibility, Robert. If you see those things at the top of the laundry list of the democratic party leaders like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, John Kerry, and the rest, please enlighten.

And who's fault is that? The right's. Maybe you should enforce some anti-drug policys instead of trying to sell to everyone.

I am sharing my opinons Neck. I am gathering impression that we are fuked until we find a way to elect an independant party candidate with his/her own logical and real moralistic ideas on honor and character. I think JFK Jr would have been that, but at the sniff of this outrage we seen how the Republican leadership reacted at such a thought. We will, unfortunately, never know.

Something tells me, General, based on that last post, that you'll vote for Hillary over an independent candidate in 2008. She may well win, sadly.

General, how would he be profiting? Is there like a vault at the Ranch that people make cash deliveries to? How do you come to that conclusion? I mean, that is so absurd, where does your equation start to get to a conclusion like that? Walk me through it.

Rob, I like you, okay? I wasn't trying to offend you. I just try to be rational about all things. While I like the General a lot, this is beyond absurd.

Illini, If I had all the answers, I would not be sitting here sharing opinions (Key Word) with you. I would be long gone by now ("Eliminated" - the proper term). I am in hopes someone can prove me wrong. I will say though that I have some friends in Texas who dwell in the evils of trafficking and I am sharing thoughts which they share with me.

Fair enough Illini, I enjoy your posts also. But this is the politics forum, and believe me when I say that you and red are the types of people who probably enjoy watching documentarys about Pablo Escobar and rooting for him!

It is not about liking anyone to me. I love you all. I am sharing an opinion and looking for some thoughts is all. Seeking to try and understand some things.

General, there are all types of conspiracy theories out there. Ever read anything about Vince Foster or Ron Brown? Nothing will ever be proven.

You mean some black cokehead from Watts right? That's what I thought. There are plenty of cokeheads wherever you live too I'm sure. Or meth-heads, more likely.
