NJ,can't agree. I think it is important that the American people know the cost of the war. After all, we are the ones who will have to pay for it.

Where's the clock that tracks the cost of welfare, rewarding people to sit on their ass.

Red,would not have a problem with that either,The fact is this war is gonna put the US economy behind the 8 ball.If the American public believes it is worth it,so be it.But we will have to pick up the cost.I believe whoever wins is gonna have to raise taxes.

So when are we going to drop all these useless nation building plans and concentrate on fighting terrorists?

When a bank robber hides in some crumbling ghetto do we have to rebuild the entire ghetto after we haul out the bad guy?

The trouble is you haven't caught the bad guy yet. Bin Laden is laughing his head off at you. You had a chance to catch him in Afghanistan but you blew it and started a war against one of bin Laden's greatest enemies.

Ok, so we don't catch the bad guy but we still take time out to rebuild the ghetto....still an incredibly huge waste....

Regardless of what one thinks of the war, anyone who has a problem with someone keeping track of our tax dollars is a bozo. I don't give a rat's ass about Iraq but the fact is that there is no such thing as "priceless". Everything has to be weighed vis-a-vis the cost involved and this is costing an absolute shitload.

Nothing wrong with helping to build up any area.

But it has a better chance of success if you aren't the ones responsible for a good share of the damage.

NYC is the greatest city in America after San Francisco.

barman...."But it has a better chance of success if you aren't the ones responsible for a good share of the damage."

True. I will agree with you on that point.

"Nothing wrong with helping build up any area."

Well, I guess this would depend on what area and what nation you are talking about.

I'm guessing all the areas in the U.S. have been built up already and there is this enormous amount of extra money just laying around to help other countries out?

Perhaps if the tab for all this humanitarian effort was placed upon our leaders who tend to throw money around like it's monopoly money....if they had to foot the bill for all this nation building, then you'd see a little hesitation.....just brief at that.....and a unanimous veto of such an expensive excursion.....funny how if they had to pay for these things themselves.....how short thier arms are and all of a sudden they aren't quite long enough to reach into the old ass pocket and get thier wallet.
