The Clippers and Knicks are both headed for the Lone Star State. Los Angeles will be trying to snap its skid against the Spurs on Thursday night while New York visits the Dallas Mavericks.
Los Angeles Clippers (10.0) (+900 USodds) at San Antonio Spurs (1.11) (-900 US odds)
The Clippers continue to stumble, losing eight straight games heading into their date with the Spurs Thursday night. Los Angeles has lost nine in a row against San Antonio and 17 of the past 18 meetings. The team's current skid can be blamed on the numerous injuries depleting the roster. The Clippers dressed just eight players for their last game and are without three starters and two reserves, including point guard Baron Davis and center Chris Kaman.
San Antonio is on the opposite side of the spectrum, winning three straight and eight of its last nine games. The Spurs were bit by the injury bug earlier in the year but are now finally back at full strength and winning because of it. Backcourt combo Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili had an off-night in their most recent showing against Miami, combining for just 18 points. However role players Roger Mason, Matt Bonner and George Hill stepped up with production on the scoreboard.
New York Knicks (4.40) (+340 US odds) at Dallas Mavericks (1.27) (-375 USodds)
New York followed a solid win over the powerful Boston Celtics on Sunday with a poor showing against the brutal Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday. The Knicks took their foot off the gas against Oklahoma City and allowed the Thunder to score 107 points on them. New York is running on fumes with only eight active players on the roster. It could have center Eddy Curry back for Thursday's game in Dallas. He's missed all of the season with a knee injury.
Dallas has won four of its past five games heading into Thursday, although the Mavericks haven't been as sharp as their record would indicate. They had to fight for wins over Minnesota, Philadelphia and the Clippers - three of the NBA's bottom feeders. Forward Josh Howard is still slowed by an ankle injury and has watched his numbers fluctuate depending on how his foot feels in the pre-game shootaround. Having Howard hobbled also hurts the Mavs on defense. They've given up 100 points or more in three of their last four games after averaging just 97 points against this season.
