Clinton Portis - RB - Redskins Zorn: Portis having 'awesome' camp
"He's worked hard, run hard, and he's learning as well," Zorn said. Portis won't play much Saturday, but it'll be interesting to see how he looks. He's averaged just 2.9 YPC in his last five games and will be facing Pittsburgh. August 17

Clinton Portis - RB - Redskins Clinton Portis limited in practice
Portis will likely be "probable" on Friday's injury report, but he's not producing (141 rushing yards, three catches, no TDs) and will not benefit from the season-ending loss of RG Randy Thomas. At least the Skins face Detroit. September 23

</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top colSpan=3>Clinton Portis (ankle) didn't practice on Friday and is listed as questionable on the Week 3 injury report, but the Redskins expect him to start against Detroit.
"His ankles have been sore," coach Jim Zorn said. "We've got many (other backs) to choose from, but I expect Clinton be out there ripping around." However, Zorn revealed that Portis has bone spurs in both ankles, which is a bad sign for a back with over 2,000 carries on his resume. Portis is a must-start against the Lions, but the injuries threaten to haunt him all year.

It's going to be time to sell high if Portis has a big game in the favorable matchup. He's dealing with bone spurs in booth feet. The Skins' other inactives: DT Anthony Montgomery, OT D'Anthony Batiste, C Edwin Williams, CB Kevin Barnes, RB Marcus Mason, WR Marko Mitchell, DE Renaldo Wynn, and LB Robert Henson.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Portis has a reputation for malingering in practice, but the bone spurs in both ankles have been extremely painful. Portis is reportedly "doing things he has never done in an effort to remain in the lineup." The 2,100 career carries are taking a serious toll on his body, and he's now in obvious decline.

Should I give up on McFadden and go with Portis???

My RB are great this year
A Peterson
R Brown
L. Tomlinson
D. McFadden

Someone actually dropped Portis and I was wondering if I should drop McFadden to pick him up?

I'd take Portis over McFadden.

At least until they leave McFaddedn the he!! alone & let him stay in the game instead of alternating him with those other 2 bums.....

"Fifty-fifty," coach Jim Zorn said. "I..want to be smart in how we deal with him." Ladell Betts and Marcus Mason shared first-team reps throughout the week. Zorn added that Mason will definitely be active Sunday, indicating that the Skins aren't confident Portis will make it the whole game even if he starts. Portis would be hard to sit if he's active against the Bucs' 31st-ranked run defense, but we won't know his status until about 12ET Sunday.

</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top colSpan=3>The Redskins expect Clinton Portis (calf, ankles) to play barring "a setback in (pre-game) warmups," according to FOX Sports' John Czarnecki.
However, the Czar predicts "more work" for usual third-down back Ladell Betts and more freedom in the passing game for Jason Campbell. Portis hasn't capitalized on favorable matchups with St. Louis and Detroit, so he's no lock to take advantage of this one. The Buccaneers are ranked 31st against the run.

Clinton Portis - RB - Redskins Clinton Portis limited with calf injury
He's also been on the injury report recently with bone spurs in each of his ankles, but isn't listed with them this week. Portis, who's exhibited no power or burst early in the year, at least has a favorable matchup against K.C. October 14
