:suomi: While Boomer was mentioning the final score in Boise/Louisville, he slipped in the fact that the total points was 84 and the over under 83....

Why is it some announcers seem to have carte blanche with this, while other networks and announcers go out of their way NOT to make any gambling references?

It's plain and simple and has nothing to do with job security.

The guys who mention the # do so because they KNOW the #. They know the # because they're gamblers. Either recreational or serious players.

The guys who don't mention the # probably just aren't paying attention to it. You only know spreads if you're playing the #'s.

Two sports announcers in NY that most people know, mike and the maddog, routinely slip up when they discuss football games. They make their "entertainment only" Picks each week but when they arent thinking they frequently slip up and say they lost money on a game. Everyone gambles.

I was once passing by a big police station in NY and hear about 6 cops talking about who they were taking on MNF.

The billions and billions that go into these offshore books come from a lot of different people. You're right... everyone gambles.

Go to a sportsbar anywhere in America on a saturday or sunday during football season and most everyone in there has got to have some action going.
