Seems poised to push its weight around. Dangerous games but they definitely think they have the edge. Man-made islands in South China Sea and threatening to go in and take over or reclaim Taiwan. Russia has their back and with North Korea, Iran, and ISIS being pesky thorns in the sides of NATO, China may very well have the leverage here. Balance of power is shifting.
Like Russia, they're a sovereign nation with strong economic ties to us. If the cards are played right, as opposed to childishly, they can work with us

Those rogue nations and cockroach terrorists do tie up our military resources. If they get more aggressive it could cause the perfect storm to give China the leverage to go in with a takeover of Taiwan. War would seem impending. Russia got Crimea or "reclaimed" without a fight, China could be thinking the same with Taiwan. US military is not ready after suffering years of being weakened under the Obama administration. China could be setting itself up in a win win situation to make the US give in to unfair economic deals or it takes Taiwan.

China will offer the Trump administration better market access for financial sector investments and U.S. beef exports to help avert a trade war, the Financial Times reported on Sunday, citing officials familiar with the matter.
China is prepared to raise the investment ceiling in the Bilateral Investment treaty and is also willing to end the ban on U.S. beef imports, the newspaper also reported.
"China was prepared to (raise the investment ceilings) in the BIT but those negotiations were put on hold (after Trump's election victory)," the Financial Times also reported citing a Chinese official involved in the talks.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said on Friday that President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have agreed to a new 100-day plan for trade talks on Friday.
The U.S. trade department was not immediately available for comment while the China's ministry of commerce could not be reached for comment.
