Chad Pennington joins Michael Vick as sitting QB - out indefinitely with fractured left wrist

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP)— New York Jets quarterback Chad Pennington dislocated and fractured his left wrist against the New York Giants on Saturday night and is out indefinitely.
Pennington was tackled from behind by Brandon Short after throwing away a pass with just under two minutes remaining in the first half and landed awkwardly on his wrist.

He had X-rays at Giants Stadium, which revealed the fracture-dislocation, and was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital in New York for immediate surgery. The Jets do not know how long their starting quarterback will be out, and said Pennington's status would be determined after surgery.

assuming Pennington comes back in week 8
Winnable games (Dallas, at Houston).
Looking for a split from the remaining games.
(at Wash., Miami, at N.E., Buffalo) which
would make them 4-2 after 7 weeks, (bye in
week 5). Hopefully 3-3 at worst.

Jets coach Herman Edwards said the club is looking for a veteran backup quarterback.
One name that might be on their short list is former Jet Ray Lucas, who played with Miami last season and is looking for work.

Lucas left the Jets on bad terms two seasons ago, but the Jets are desperate and may give the Harrison native and Rutgers graduate a call.
