CH Cubs vs Washington on 08/16 by Jay_Robinson

Here we go with the Nationals again. They objectively suck, no doubt about it, but the Cubs aren’t much better, and we can count on their faithful public to push the MLB odds too far in the other direction. Plus, Patrick Corbin (4.14 xFIP) isn’t nearly as bad as his 7.02 ERA would suggest – just look at his .384 BABIP allowed (!) if you don’t believe me.

Meanwhile, Justin Steele (3.55 xFIP) has the Cubs at 9-12 this year, with the support of the most mediocre bullpen in baseball: No. 15 on the WAR charts at FanGraphs. And the Nats will want revenge after losing 4-2 to Steele and the Cubs last week as +145 road dogs.
