UNLV (-5) VS. SD STATE 3:00 EST

The Rebels did themselves a huge favor last weekend by knocking off the Lobos in Albuquerque, and now they find themselves one win away from bowl eligibility. The Aztecs won their last game before their bye week, but had lost 4 straight before that “W”. I really liked UNLV to open the season, but they’ve disappointed me against some of the better conference competition this season. They need this one to become eligible, but they might even need 2 more with 3 to go to actually get a bid. This is a must win with CSU at home, and a trip to Wyoming on deck. QB Nantkes has been cleared to go, and the Rebels running game will get the job done today.

PITT (+5) VS. VTECH 7:45 EST

We’ve been touting this Pitt squad all season long, and I’m not going to stop now. I expected them to be undefeated in Big East play up to this point, and they find themselves in the drivers seat. A win here is a must if they expect to go to a major BCS bowl. Everything’s lined up for them to have a huge day. They really need to take advantage of CB Hall’s absence in the first half, and then try to grind it out against a tough rush “D” in the second half. Pitt has the tools and experience to get the job done in this spot, and I fully expect them to knock off the Hokies for the third year in a row in a pumped up Heinz Field.

VOLS (+13) VS. MIAMI 3:30 EST

I’m not too sure why the Canes have been tagged to lay this much wood in this spot. I’ve been saying all year how they’re not as complete as in year’s past. The Vols are still fighting for a major bowl bid as well, and will give the Canes all they can handle after they blew them out last year in Knoxville. Don’t believe the hype. This is not a good spot to lay the wood with the Canes. Just because they need a solid win for the BCS rankings doesn’t mean they’ll win this one by double digits. QB Clausen has proven to be a road warrior, and he’ll have his mates in this one throughout its entirety.

IOWA @ PURDUE

Iowa comes into this game going 0-3 ATS last 3 vs. Purdue AND 1-3 ATS L4 at Purdue. The Boilermakers have ‘covered’ nine of their last 11 at home in conference play ..Purdue at home in West Lafeyette are .25-12-1 SU all time vs. Iowa! I am expecting two evenly matched teams on both sides of the ball to play a very physical game that will be closely contested until the end! Home field advantage should be enough for a narrow victory for Boilermakers in this Big 10 tilt! The favorite has dominated this series rivalry, getting the pesos in 10 of 15 tilts. Purdue is 5-1 ATS at home this season and 6-1 ATS as chalk. Note: Both of the Hawkeyes ATS & SU losses this season were on the road.

Take Purdue -2.5

KENT @ OHIO (NCAAF)

Kent lost nine of its last 11 to Ohio SU and eight of the last 12 ATS. Ohio has a 35-18-2 SU advantage all-time in this series .that includes a 50-0 one-sided thrashing over Kent State last season. I look for Kent to come into this game flat after last week’s valiant losing effort vs. a very good Miami (Ohio) team.

Take Ohio -3

Navy @ Notre Dame (NCAAF)

Notre Dame owns a commanding 66-9 SU advantage in the all-time series, between these two rivals. But more importantly for bettors, Navy holds all the cards going 10-3 ATS L10 meetings including going 6-0-1 ATS L7 at South Bend! Navy has ‘covered’ 30 of their last 41 as road dog’s .The Irish on the other hand are a dismal 0-4 ATS at home this season and 0-2 as chalk. . Navy has been a tough opponent for the best of teams this season and after watching the Popes favorite football team flounder vs. Florida State last week it won’t be hard to pick Navy against the spread in this spot!

Take Navy plus the points

Special Note: Rutgers is 8-0 ATS this season. And no, your coffee is not spiked.

The Scarlet Knights are the only college football team that has yet to lose against the all-important betting line, which means if you were smart enough to plop a few bucks on them each week this season, you probably are having trouble closing your wallet today.

The quirky statistic has turned Rutgers -- not normally a team that attracts interest with gamblers -- into one of the most talked-about college football teams in Las Vegas. Can they make it 9 wins against the spread in a row...

Smarts thoughts: Never bet against a streak and follow it until it goes bust! Go Rutgers
