if he goes down theyll have one of the worst records in the nbav(lower 35% area) atleast i think so. which is why i dont understand why they dont get more players around him to compliment him. a year ago i would have bet anything that hed stay in cleveland, but now im not so sure. he wants a ring and im not sure the owners are doing enough to get him that

and who would you suggest they get? They picked up some guy you might have heard of...Shaq. The only other person would have been Artest and he would be stupid to come to CLE over LAL.

ya i have heard of shaq. i mean i do live in la and have his autographed jersey hanging on my wall. those werent any where near the only players available. lots of very solid veterans changed teams that they could have tried to get their hands on. miller, sheed, vince, artest, jefferson, hedo, or even charlie V and daniels. all are guys that could have improved there starting 5 or bench. in my opinion they needed to make 2 or 3 moves in the offseason, and sign players to long term deals, showing bron bron there comited to getting rings, and not just one and done contracts like shaqs. im not saying that lebron is going to leave, but in my opinion the chances of him leaving are getting higher

what the hell you talking about??? Villanueva, Marquis Daniels, Rasheed Wallace, Richard Jefferson, Vince Carter, and not to mention Jamison and Stephen Jackson, who they failed to get.. Shaq is a worse move than all of those names.. Shaq is over the hill... Picking up shaq did little to help them at all...

They didn't have all the money in the world to throw around. They thought they had Villanueva actually, he backdoored them. Wallace went to BOS, same scenario as Artest. I wouldn't put VC on your favorite team. Jamison gets hurt every year. Jackson has proven that while he may not be as bad as he once was, he is still a disruption. Word is they are still trying to get Daniels. Yes, Shaq is on the downcline, but they weren't going to win with Z at the center position, that was proven last year.

They did: 1. Shaq 2. Parker 3. Moon

Whoa....I should start up a clinic for depression....fellas...the Cavs started out 1-2 last year...remember? And I think the regular season turned out ok eh?

You have to remember, they lost their offensive coordinator (Kuester), Delonte hasn't played yet....plus they are still working in 3 new guys...Moon, Parker & SHaq...not to mention "Z" is coming off the bench for the first time...it takes time to mesh...

Now, on the flip side, they haven't addressed their major problem....athleticism and youth on along the frontline...Shaq is big and slow..."Z" is big and slow...Andy is a nice player but not very athletic...so come playoff time, the same thing that happenedthe past two nights will only be magnified come playoff time...

I did not understand this pick up by Clev. at all. This is not the Shaq of 10 years ago, this is a slow moving donkey that cannot get up and down the court. So in my eyes this slows the whole progress of this team down and makes them take a giant step back.

Wow...you hav come to this after watching 2 games? That's amazing...that's quite a gift you have...

Listen, I don't disagree that the Shaq of 10 years ago has long passed...I don't know if he necessarily slows them down any more then "Z" does...however, they do have to implement a new offense...or at least a different version of their current offense...only time will tell if this move works....just not 2 games...

There are three main reasons the cavs have fallen flat so far, two are certainly fixable.

The first reason which is fixable is that Mike Brown has constantly had the wrong personnel out there at the wrong times.. That will happen with the new players on the team. Toronto is a very athletic and finesse based team, and when you have Shaq and Z out there at the same time it won't end well at all.

2nd reason which is also fixable is Mike Brown's game management, he does not call time outs well enough.. You will often see 11-0 type runs before Brown thinks about calling a time out. He has never been good with time management throughout the past few years, you often see CLE give up huge leads that they have. You see guys like Doc Rivers and Phil Jackson call timeouts after 5-0 runs, or when he sees a change in momentum, this is non-existant with Mike Brown

The 3rd reason is not fixable. John Cuester who is now with the Pistons is very missed in the offense, as Mike Brown is probably the worst offensive minded head coach out there. The Cavs are so stagnant and I don't expect this to change at all anytime soon.

I think they have a slight dropoff from last year, 50-53 wins and #3 in the east. And I wouldn't trust them enough to bet on them till I see improvement in these areas

fb, cansfan hit the nail on the head. The only reason the cavs were so good last year is b/c they acquired Cuester. Mike Brown is clueless as a head coach. He is a great defensive assistant and that's it.

Also, its not that they aren't one of the contenders, it's that they are not better than the elite teams, LAL, ORL and BOS, as was evidenced last year when they actually had an offensive coach who knew what he was doing.
