Casinos in Lexington area/Derby questions

My wife and I are heading to Kentucky on Derby weekend as we have to be at an event that Sunday in Lexington. We are getting a hotel in Lexington and are planning to drive up to CD to try and scalp tix for cheaper than what they are online ($400 per). If we don't end up finding something much cheaper we are gonna hit a casino in the area for the day/night instead. Was wondering what you or others thought were the best casinos in the area. I'm assuming anything in Louisville will be crazy that day. I've been looking online at maybe Belterra. Any thoughts and/or suggestions are appreciated.

Honestly I would even bother with Churchill..go to keeneland in Lexington on derby day. Will be a ton of events and its 1000x nicer then Churchill. Do some distillery tours..eat at bourbon n toulousse, malones, Sahara grille..buy some good whiskey at liquor barn. Do some tours of the horse farms, Kentucky horse park, old friends.

horseshoe casino is an hour north in cincy..no tables just slots.

let me know if you got questions about Lexington. I go twice a year for horse related stuff.

Thanks tanner. Love liquor barn. Gonna try some Jefferson's Ocean assuming they have it. Have only been to Keeneland once, but agree...it is beautiful.

there is a casino/riverboat/hotel in louisville area. prob booked for derby wknd though. if a casino and hotel are what you are looking for, check evansville indiana tropicana abt 90 miles from louisville. nice new hotel and very noce restaurants. let me know if you have other questions, be glad to help

Been about half dozen times. Never had a hard time seeing a horse or placing a bet. If you go to the Derby and your only goal is to bet on the races, then go to liquor barn, stay home and bet online. That's like saying you want to go to the Masters because you like watching guys play golf.
