Though Cardinal Fans are backs are against the wall, I am going to go out on a limb and predict this series will at least go back to St. Louis. Though we lost 2 one run games, I see some big positives going into Game 5 besides Carpenter and his 5-0 record under 2 era vs Houston this year.

1. Lidge though good , is not looking unbeatable. We broke through on him Saturday and had him on the ropes today! I believe we are close to roughing him up.

2. I expect Cards to be pumped up from Larussa and Edmonds ejections.

3. We have already beaten Pettitte,Oswalt, and Clemens in succession this year.

4. Bullpen is fairly rested especially Izzy.

5. Walker on getting hit off of Lidge and baserunning seems to be coming out of funk.

6. Character....This team had a goal and regardless if they get back or not to WS, I know this series will go back to STL for one last game at Busch at least maybe more.

STL -130 for 10 units tomorrow night!

Good one Chop! O.K. maybe it's a tie...

I don't mean to bust your guys' balls, but I'm of the school that fans make poor sports betters.

acedeucetrey,

You are losing faith. With a Cards win, Astros will lose all momentum in this series. If it goes back to Busch, Cards will win Game 6 as don't believe Oswalt can pitch 2 games at Busch back to back like first one and considering we roughed him up for over 5.5 era in regular season I think our chance would be pretty good. In Game 7, I would not like our chances like ly with Clemens pitching but who knows. Suppan has gone like 0-4 ly su vs Clemens and pulled it off. I don't think Morris has it in him to pitch vs others best anymore but everyone will be available so he would be on a short leash. But unless we get it tomorrow night, means nothing. My hats off to Astros but if they don't get it done tomorrow night, they might not get it done.

I'm about out of faith, Kojak. Just doesn't seem possible to go 3-0 against those pitchers. It feels like 2002, when we lost a lot of games we could have won against SF. Same story as then. No timely hitting.

Well I've cashed consecutive Hou ML/Under parlays. Think I'll just go ML tomorrow with the total so low U7.5-130. Carpenter might not get the breaks at MM that he's been getting a lot of lately and Pettite is a monster at home. Think this might be the blowout Houston win. STL as a -130 favorite here is ludicrous. Never mind that Hou is 57-28 at home. Houston wins 7-3.

Illini,

I remember ly about this same time that you lost faith in Cards and I told you keep your faith and things would work out. Well I am telling you again to keep the faith. One win in Houston changes everything. We have won plenty of games in Houston during the year, had the best road record in NL, and they still have to beat Carpenter who has owned them. We lost 2 one run games that could have went either way. If they don't get it done, you have to tip your hat to the Astros and they did not deserve it. We can get it done so keep your faith.

Funny I hear this almost every year, "if we can just get a win everything changes". Problem is even if some things change winning three or four in a row against a top team is a monster hill to climb in baseball. All the momentum you gain in one game doesn't carry over if the pitcher, who didn't have a thing to do with the momentum being gained or lost, just comes out and pitches well.

Call it the new curse of the Red Sox. Bettors for 20 years will be thinking the impossible is possible and underestimate how big a hole these teams face.

The Cardinals Have Absolutely No Chance In This Series...as I Have Stated In A Previous Post Before The Cards/astros Series Started That The Astros Would Face The Sox. I Would Be Willing To Bet Every Cent I Have Against The Cards, Laying -99999999999999999. I Have My Own Money On The Series As Well. Cards May Win A Game Or Two, But Not Three, I Guarantee It. I'd Put Anything On It.

Love the fact that nearly everyone thinks this series will end tonight. You can say all the pressure is on the Cardinals. Fans will be nuts in Houston tonight and everything else but imo, all the pressure is on the Astros. Cards have nothing to lose and with Pettitte,Oswalt, and Clemens pitching it is an uphill battle but it is not like Houston has blown Cards away in last 3 games. They won Game 2 getting some insurance late as Oswalt pitched best game in the series for Astros. Game 3 and Game 4 could have gone either way. In fact I believe that if those 2 games were in STL, there would have been a different result. Oddsmakers have made Cards the favorite tonight setting up the trap for bettors to take Houston imo. I will tell you if Cards win tonight, you will see the biggest homefield advantage you can imagine in STL for Game 6 and if they win Game 7. Astros fans don't be surprised if this goes back and then see you start to sweat. I am a Cards fan and a homer and I admit it. For those that think I am the biggest homer so be it as I am proud of it. But if Cards win tonight, you may never cash those tickets. In fact I will go out on a limb and say whoever wins this game tonight, will go to the WS. Obviously Astros would but I predict Cards win 3 in a row if they win tonight and take it back to STL. Let the bashing begin because I don't care. This series is going back to STL!

Kojak give me a break, your Cards are garbage. I would hate to see them in the WS, they are one hell of a boring team to watch.

Coconutman,

You are entitled to your opinion but if it is 1 man (me) vs a million people today so be it. Cards are not going down without a fight. If it is only me that believes so be it. If Astros win I will be first to congratulate but like my Cards, us against the world, then it will be me vs the world. Don't care. This series will go back to STL!
