Marshall defense 16.8 ppg (13th in the country)/ offense 22.9 ppg (77th)
Akron defense at home 25.0 ppg (83rd)/offense 22.8 (78th)
Marshall has given Ohio St and Georgia very close calls on the road this year, 24-21 and 13-3.
Akron's only "decent" team (a pathetic PSU team) lost 48-10 in Happy Valley. PSU was up 42-0 at the half.
Marshall's Jonathan Goodard is a 1st round draft pick at defensive end and on the list for numerous awards this year. In a conference like the MAC, Goodard is capable of taking over an offense alone. He is unstoppable against MAC caliber offensive lines. This guy could start at almost any BCS school. Also keep in mind that Marshall is in a position where they must win their conference to get a bow bid most likely due to losses to Troy St early, Ohio State, and Georgia.
I think if Akron wants a chance to win tonight, they will have to keep the ball and try and keep it low scoring.
Just my thoughts. Best of luck tonight and this weekend!
