Can Pentium M be Celeron?

I was at Best Buy comparing a notebook I saw at another store, one that had a Pentium M 725 Processor, with the ones in Best Buy. The sales guy there said the one I saw elsewhere had to be a Celeron (because of the price), which was slower and cheaper than the ones they had, which also began with a "C" but I forget the name.

Is this so? That the M means only "Mobile" as the salesman said, and that it could well be a Celeron?

Oh yeah, Centrino was what he was talking about. Is the Pent M a Celeron or Centrino?

the pentium M is different from the Centrino. The Pentium M actually is the foundation for the Centrino chips...

Celerons are actually nothing but rejected CPUs - the early Celerons didnt even have L2 cache on em

And Pentium M is also different from the Celeron? Guy was trying to tell me that the Dell Pentium M had to be a celeron processsor.

Which is more important to you, price or performance? If you want better performance buy the Pentium M. If you want cheaper buy the Celeron M. The performance difference is small. If you only do internet and business type applications you wouldn't notice the difference. If you do processor intensive stuff or gaming you would.

Yes, thanks. I sell stuff online and have an enoumous stash of photos that I need. Celeron would be too slow, plus I occassionally do a little gaming,not much.

I did see a website that explained what you had, that the Pent M is actually the technogoly for the centrino

No Pentium M is not Celeron.
