Can anyone actually in CR describe the actual nightlife???

Maybe some of the clubs, I have heard of Del Ray, Scarlett's? Mainly what is going on, type of customers, etc. Hookers or real Ticas? Do the actual non hookers hang at different places? Besides clubs, what else is there? Any fishing stories. Do any books comp of take care of thier customers? Skip the I can get any Tica for 10 cent stories. Any and all input appreciated.

I had a blast in the short time I spent in CR....nothing crazy on the nightlife scene for me, but we went up to the Volcano near Arenal, nice hot springs, horseback riding and zip-line canopy tours...

Also went down to the beach near Manuel Antonio (sp?) went to the national park, spent a day white water rafting, spent a day fishing....We landed five or six nice Sails....it seemed like all the boats were doing well too...

The beautiful girls are abundant if you can get over the fact that almost all the bars are over crowded and play crappy music all night long. If you are going to chase girls you need some skills despite what you may have heard from the whoremongers who frequent this board. Nice girls are to be found but it may be hard to pick one out of a crowd.
The nature is extraordinary and there is plenty of healthy escursions that you can take,in and around the central valley. Still, if you want to be the guy in his fishing cloths chasing hookers at the "Dre" you will fit right in, and chances are you will probably "catch something".

Have fun, soak it all in, and respect the locals since they are kind enough to let us in despite our reputation.

That is a FROG conduct guideline. I adhere to that strictly. I have many daytime excursions in mind, but the nights are open. I mostly want to catch a buzz and take it all in. I want to visit one children's home and help out if I can. That is a pledge. Should be fun, but I was hoping some book could comp me something, mooch that I am. But I will fish, hike, raft, snorkel, fish some more. Might golf with some of the fellas so they can beat the FROG at something, sure ain't booking. Everytime I used to hear gringos calling costarican girl´s hoes, I´d get SO agravated I couldn´t even talk I was hard for me to understand why would they think about us that way.
I know that every single country in the world has hookers and sadly I have to recognize that my country is one of the top destinations for sex tourism.
Many 14, 11 year old babies get rapped by tourists everyday and it seems that the goverment doesn´t care enough. And yes, like in most of the countries there are plenty of hookers walking down the streets every night.
DelRey is a very famous hooker place here. I guess about 85% of the "gringos" (united states citizens) that come down to CR are taken there by their local friends.
The question is why? Why is DelRey full of gringos everynight??
I was curious, I´ve heard so many comments about DelRey and I didn´t even know where were they located. So a friend comes to CR and he loves the place, so I decided to go with him and a gf to finally see the place.
I was very nervous... Damn, what if I find someone I know?? Would they think I´m one of them??? When I was at the door I was about to run away... but my curiousity held me back. Took a deep breath and stepped in.
I was dissapointed... Is this IT? WTF? All I see is a bunch of girls who look like guys...
Then I was informed that it was the B team and that the A team will get in an hour or so.
I look around... Full of gringos... I´d say maybe 5-7% were locals. And most of the girls were from Colombia or Dominican Republic. We saw a chick who used to work for a book (looks like prostitution is way more profitable)...

Young girls letting this old creepy guys grab their butts... Pretending to listen to the them and just rolling their eyes whenever they look other way (they don´t understand a word they say... even if they did, I bet they couldn´t care less).

Gentleman. DelRey is NOT Costa Rica´s nightlife. I don´t go out much and I hate bars cause I don´t drink, but I know we have SO much more than that to offer. You definitely have the wrong perception. All you´ve seen is the rotten apples.
Ticas are very beautiful and most come from families with values. Most just looking forward for a family and kids, working hard and studying to be professional women.
We hang out with our friends, have some beer, dance and have some fun. Go to the movies our out for dinner. Some just waiting for the weekend to run to the beach and enjoy the beauties of our country.
I strongly recommend to join the tours, go to the beach, check the tropical rain forest, the birds. Go rafting, surfing, bungee jumping, canopy, kayaking, diving, horseback riding. Don´t be lazy! Enjoy the nature, it´s beautifull over here!
Night life? Go to escazu, plenty of nice bars there, san pedro "la calle de la amargura" get some booze, chill, meet REAL costarican ladies. You won´t be dissapointed!

You will enjoy CR for its many quality of life experiences..

With all of your book contacts it is inconceivable to think that if you took a trip here someone would not coop a part of the trip..

When are you coming here..the dates are important because I can suggest some activities that the timing needs to be right for..

The nightlife has its topless bars where there is plenty to do..The Del Rey is for the gringo who has a itch that needs to be immediately scratched..ESCAZU now has plenty of bars and dance clubs that have great potential.

Manuel Antonio, Jaco, Quepos, Tamarindo all are great spots on the pacific side that offer fun and ecology..Conchal has a all inclusive deal in Flamingo that has golf, good food, and a casino..Jazz has a casino property there..

The country is affordable, and the people are real friendly..If you need any other recos..ask..like they say here..PURA VIDA..

Also dont be confused by the low number of locals inside, their failure to represent is more likely due to the overpriced booze and whores than the moral issues involved. If you know where to look you will find plenty of filthy ticos out and about in the madrugada in places that would make a tourist drop a load in his/her pants. But screw statistics, do what you want to do as long as your goodtime isnt causing someone else to have a bad one. Respect people around you and if you are going to participate in "questionable activities" use your head and go in protected.
