Someone tell me this isn't true - because the SB is being played in CA and because of Cams high salary all of his performance incentives for the SB game are gonna be taken in the form of taxes? He gets to keep like 5% of what he potenting could earn? If this is true I wouldon't play on principle

Wouldn't he get paid from the Panthers office here in Charlotte the week or so after the game like any other business? They wouldn't cut the check and tax him right after the game.

It is true. It's called the "jock" tax.

There has been some movement to modify/repeal it over the years, but nobody really cares.

I thought PeyPey was set to collect $2M bonus for winning SB50. If so, wouldn't PeyPey have more to lose?

Do they do this on all road games? Doesn't make sense to me.

Nah, it doesn't have to do with the $ you make that particular game. It is just a pro-rated amount of what you made for the year (with some complex calculations involved)...Cam won't actually be paying his bonus to CA, he will be paying a % of what he makes for the year to CA which will offset the bonus he makes for the game. Does that make sense?

The reason Peyton has less liability is because he makes less than Cam right now.

CA makes like 250-300mill a year off this tax FWIW. Nice racket if you can get it.

My buddy is friends with a MLB player. They file state tax returns for like 20 states. The money they earn while playing a game in a particular state gets taxed by that state. It's kind of dumb.
