Video footage from cameras stationed outside the New England Patriots locker room at Houston's NRG Stadium captured the man accused of stealing Tom Brady's jersey before and after he swiped the $500,000 prize.
Fox Sports obtained footage showing the man as he walked into the locker room behind Bill Belichick at 10:04pm with a bag on his shoulder and appearing as if he were a member of the team.
He did not exit the locker room until 14 minutes later at 10:18pm, at which point he could be seen with a shirt under his arm.
That man has now been identified as Mauricio Ortega, a former executive at newspaper company Diario La Prensa.
The company released a lengthy statement on Monday admonishing the executive and apologizing to their readers and the people of Mexico.
La Prensa said that they were not even aware the executive was using his position to gain access to events like the Super Bowl.
They also revealed that he had stepped down from his position on March 14 but made no mention of any investigation or the missing jersey.

Ortega's former employer also stated that they may pursue legal action.
'Editora La Prensa, S.A. de C.V., will request information from corresponding authorities [local and fedeal] in relation to the actions that took place that day, so that, if appropriate, Editora La Prensa can begin to initiate the corresponding legal actions and assist authorities in helping to clarify the lamentable facts that they are investigating; a situation that with become common knowledge for the people of Mexico and in particular for our readers.
The hunt for Brady's missing Super Bowl jersey finally came to an end on Monday, when it was revealed that the FBI had recovered the historic piece of memorabilia six weeks after it disappeared from the quarterback's locker.
In a brief news release sent out that morning morning, the NFL wrote that the jersey worn by Brady during last month's game had been located and retrieved thanks to the joint efforts of NFL security, New England Patriots security, law enforcement authorities and the FBI.
The FBI reportedly became involved in the hunt due to the fact that the jersey was located in Mexico.
It was revealed at the same time that the jersey Brady wore in the 2015 Super Bowl was also recovered by the FBI, with the same individual accused of stealing the quarterback's uniform on both occasions.
No further information was given by the NFL, whose release on Monday came from a member of the press office and not Commissioner Roger Goodell, despite the fact that Brady's Deflategate foe is generally the first to speak about major news regarding the league.

Fox Sports reporter Glazer first revealed details of the incident on 'Undsiputed' Monday morning.
'The FBI and the NFL security, along with Patriots security, Houston PD, they actually went through all this video trying to track somebody down. And they zeroed in on a person of interest,' explained Glazer.
'That person of interest, I’m told, is an international member of the media. I don’t believe he’s actually a member of the media, but he was posing as a member of the media.'
Glazer went on to say of the thief: 'And they’ve got him going in the locker room, right behind Bill Belichick, as if he’s with the team, goes in there, loiters around for a little while. Seen leaving a little bit later with something under his arm, he just goes in without anything under his arm, just your normal media backpack. Comes out with the backpack plus something under his arm.'
Fox Sports and Glazer first broke the news that authorities had located Brady's jersey.
During that same appearance Glazer also offered up another unbelievable twist in the story, revealing that the Denver Broncos believe this same man might have stolen the helmet and cleats belonging to 2016 Super Bowl MVP Von Miller.
That would mean that the thief stole memorabilia from the past three winners Super Bowl MVP recipients.
'We have been in contact with NFL security regarding a Denver helmet that could potentially belong to Von Miller,' the team said in a statement.
'As it is an ongoing investigation, we will refer all additional questions and inquiries to the NFL.'
DailyMail.com has reached out to 2014 winner Malcolm Smith of the Seattle Seahawks and Joe Flacco, who won the honor in 2013, to learn if any pieces of their uniforms went missing after their Super Bowl victories.

Members of the Houston Police Department, who were the first to respond to the case, were also vital in locating the jersey according to Chief Art Acevedo.
He wrote on Twitter early Monday that the men and women of the Major Offenders Division tracked down the uniform, at which point the FBI was called in to recover the stolen goods with the help of Mexican officials.
He said of the thief later that day in a press conference: 'You don't come to Texas and embarrass us on our home turf.'
Brady's most recent jersey was said to be worth $500,000 based on the price it would likely get at auction, though that number seems a bit low given the historic significance of this year's game.
It is now back in Boston with the NFL according to Chief Acevedo, and has not yet been authenticated.
With his fifth Super Bowl win and fourth MVP trophy last month, Brady cemented his status as the greatest quarterback to ever play the game.
Brady said he specifically remembered putting his No. 12 jersey into his bag following his team's remarkable overtime victory against the Atlanta Falcons.
'I put it my bag and I came out and it wasn't there anymore,' Brady told reporters on Monday - about 11 hours after his Super Bowl victory.
'It's unfortunate because that's a nice piece of memorabilia, so if it shows up on eBay somewhere, someone let me know to try to track that down.'
Soon after the jersey went missing it was revealed that an equipment manager had even locked the piece of memorabilia away so that it would not be stolen, a move that makes sense now in light of the revelation about Brady's 2015 jersey disappearing from his locker.

A befuddled Brady was filmed moments after the Patriots record-breaking win telling owner Bob Kraft that he could not find his uniform, saying in a video posted by Around the NFL writer Dan Hanzus: 'Somebody stole my game jersey.'
Kraft, who was in a jovial mood and passing out celebratory cigars to the team at the time, responded to Brady by saying: 'Well, you better look online.'
The owner and longtime pal of President Trump later told Maria Bartiromo while appearing on her Fox Business Network show 'Mornings with Maria' that stealing Brady's jersey was akin to 'taking a great Chagall or Picasso.'
The theft of Brady's iconic jersey also sent Twitter into meltdown at the time, with many quick to identify who they believed might have stolen the jersey - NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
'Roger Goodell so mad the Patriots won he stole Brady's jersey...SMH,' joked one individual on Twitter.
'Goodell definitely stole Brady's jersey,' said another person on Twitter.
Jason Gay joked on Twitter: 'Can't believe someone took Brady's jersey. Be on the lookout in New England for someone wearing a Tom Brady jersey.'
Brady also joined the search efforts last month when he shared a photo of the suspect board he had put together in the hunt for the jersey.
Among those he suspected of he act were half time performer Lady Gaga, teammate and 'sneaky little squirrel' Julian Edelman and 'creepy me,' which Brady wrote under a courtroom artist's rendering of him from one of his Deflatgate hearings.
But now the nightmare is over for Brady, a five-time Super Bowl champion with a net worth of $180million and a supermodel wife.
