I am interesting in diversifying my investment portfolio by
buying some gold.

Ideally I'd like to physically have the gold, instead of a
piece of paper (maybe gold coins? ).

I have no experience in buying gold, so any advice is appreciated.

Like steak and Peter Schiff say, go with the Perth Mint. From what I have heard, you buy the gold (from them) and they store it for you. I believe you can take possession if need be. Lot of headaches with storing something so valuable.

FZ....I bought ten American Eagles from Monex about 6 mos ago. Love them. I definitely wanted to have them in hand....like to take them out every once in a while and just look at them.

tulving.com is the absolute cheapest place, and good - but IIRC you need to buy 10 ounces min.

apmex.com and gainsville coin both good online - they are about $5 more per coin

your local coin shop is usually good (anonymous) option - they are usually $5 more than apmex

goldmoney tops if you dont want to take possession (but hold the option to in future)

The price of gold is about to drop. The reason our media is being bombarded by ads for gold are because the big investors who bought gold several years ago while it was selling at less than 30% of what it is today. They can afford to pay for the commercials, sell off their stock in gold and still make a profit.

The wise investor is selling gold.

Like anything else it's hard to know when to buy in.

Maybe I'll dollar-cost-average in, buy a little bit in monthly increments...

Yeah, agreed. I like the idea of owning them and being able to
look at them, and show them to people.
