ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE -- President Bush solicited foreign policy advice from former President Bill Clinton at CIA briefings this week and even told Mr. Clinton that he liked his approach to reforming Social Security.

'It was really a lot of fun, Mr. Bush told reporters yesterday after spending three days with Mr. Clinton and former President George Bush in Rome. 'These CIA briefings a lot of time prompt policy discussions,' he added. 'It's interesting to get their points of view about their experiences in particular countries.'

The president also praised one of Mr. Clinton's domestic policies -- trying to reform Social Security. Both men have proposed personal savings accounts as part of the solution, an idea that is vociferously opposed by congressional Democrats. 'I was telling President Clinton I remember watching one of his town hall meetings in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on this very subject,' Mr. Bush said just hours after bidding farewell to his predecessor at the Rome airport.

'And I thought it was a very impressive presentation,' he added. 'By the way, a lot of the language happens to be pretty close to some of the town hall meetings we've had.'

Robfunk: classic ... huh???

Booed at a funeral ... does it get any lower than that?

I would rather do root canal with no painkillers than shake this mans hand ... he is disgusting and on behalf of the American families that have buried young kids coming back from Iraq, I apologize as they deserve better than this clown as Commander-in-Chief

Again, ya show up at a funeral and they boo ya??? enough said??

I actually am encouraged that Clinton and SR. have become friends. I think both parties could learn about mutual respect from two former adversaries.

Clinton's actions are akin to selling your soul.

I'm all for ending partisianship, so we don't have to hear the uneducated ramblings over party apologists like Redneckman, but it should start be embracing a dignified leader (like McCain) -- not the family that does business with Hitler & Bin Laden.

A Bush/Clinton ticket 'til 2008...

Bush messed up appointing Rice.
She's just his pet parrot, and has as much international political clout as I do.

Powell was always going to be a hard act to follow.

Holy crap! I hadn't heard that! That's pretty f'n bad, from any angle.

So much for McClellan's attempt to correlate the Pope's and Bush's 'culture of life.'

Bush booed at Pope's funeral (updated)
"Don't expect to find this in the US news. According to Germany's major news channel Der Spiegel, when George W. Bush's face appeared on the big monitor that showed part of the funeral the crowd erupted in loud boos..." Update: Deanna Zandt came through with a more faithful translation which reads: "The crowd in St. Peter's Plaza reacted to Bush's face with boos and whistles." (DailyKos)

As he viewed the pope's body, Bush said, he felt "very much at peace" and "much more in touch with his spirit."
. . .
When Bush's face appeared on giant screen TVs showing the ceremony, many in the crowds outside St. Peter's Square booed and whistled.

Getting booed at a the Pope's funeral?! Ouch.

President Bush sat on the aisle in the second row, next to his wife, Laura. Beside them were French President Jacques Chirac and his wife, Bernadette. The two presidents shook hands.

When Bush's face appeared on giant screen TVs showing the ceremony, many in the crowds outside St. Peter's Square booed and whistled.
