CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) -- President Bush, seeking to bolster America's humanitarian image after the Indian Ocean tsunamis, called Saturday for flags to be flown at half-staff next week to honor victims of the disaster.
To date there are 150,000 dead. If disease sets in like they're predicting, this number could easily hit a quarter million. Can you just imagine? Aid is up to two billion now, with Japan contributing $500M and the US $350M. Good international showing all around. Private and corporate donations are also impressive.

Its all Political ...

Remember when Bush's phony ass flew into Iraq over Thanksgiving to show his "concern" for the troops ...
same man who has yet to ATTEND ONE FUNERAL for dead
soldiers coming back from his "Private War"

Same man who ran on the Abortion issue ... all against it and his first appt in Term #2 is Gonzales ... a man who is for abortions

Bush could give a flyin flap about our dead soldiers and sure doesnt give a rats ass about the Tsunami victims .. this country got called out on the carpet with the original offer of 35 million and Bush looked like a crack head when he started rambling and defending the offer

I wish the guy was back on scotch and coke ... he was much more entertaining was he was cussing out folks in public restaurants and dancing naked on bars in Midland, TX

I would always prefer that political leaders do nice things and not mean it, than be sincere jackasses. This is a nice gesture ... the motives don't really matter in this instance. Remember, also that 15 Americans have died so far, and many more are missing. We have 5 confirmed deaths with another 150 Canadians missing. Our flags have been lowered, too.
