Junior is a loved leader ....

Boos and Catcalls Greet Bush at St. Peter's

When his image flashed on a huge outdooor TV screen, the multitude gathered for the funeral of Pope John Paul II had a pointedly unpleasant message to communicate to the U.S. president.

Original Article (German)
Rome: It was a historic moment: George W. Bush was the first president of the U.S. to participate in burying a Pope - despite his controversy with the Pontiff over the Iraq War. Loud booing was heard, when on a large television monitor carried a close-up of the President and Mrs. Bush.

George W.
Bush had also brought a high-ranking delegation to Rome, which included his father, George [H.W.] Bush, his predecessor, Bill Clinton, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. At St. Peter's Square, Bush sat in the second row of honored guests. The seats were arranged in alphabetical order, after the French names for each nation. Beside Bush sat French President Jacques Chirac. About 40 members of the U.S. Congress were also in attendance. The huge crowd gathered in the Square reacted with booing and catcalls when a large television monitor carried a close-up of the President and Mrs. Bush.

See what happens when people gather someplace outside the US and Bush doesn't get the chance to pick and choose his audience.......

Should have booed him until he left town....

The fact that people have the presence of mind to boo someone they dislike at a funeral shows just how strong that dislike really is considering it is the POPE.

It says a lot.

But the president just took a '3 day seminar' on foriegn relations run by Bill Clinton so everything will be ok soon :) ;)

guess we all should sit around and worry about what total strangers think about us. Guess next time someone flips me off going down the road because they don't appreciate my driving skills , I should let it ruin my day.

Ego74, that is what I don't get. They're not strangers. A lot of these countrys have usually been great allies with the U.S., and having great foriegn relations is very beneficial and important.

From trade to economics to war being good friends with these countrys and their leaders helps everything I just mentioned and probably more.

Why do you think they booed him? These countrys are hurt and desire good relations like weve had in the past. It's better for everybody.

Would you rather you keep the friends you had or just start to piss them off for no good reason?

I dont expect President Bush to be Reagan when it comes to foriegn policy, but this is really bad Ego.

It gets expensive doing everything on your own, so my not approving of the current policys just gets worse when you consider our defecit amoung other things.

It all ties in to me, It just says someone is not doing a good job!

I'm not gonna defend Bush on everything, everytime I give him kudos for doing something right, it seems he turns around and does something that i can't stand.
If he were doing such a bad job, he woulda got voted out of office. Either that, or it's a reflection on the weak candidates the Dems nominate. The only one of the 9 candidates the Dems put forward that I would've voted for over Bush was Lieberman. Unfortunately, a "moderate" has no place on the top of the ticket for either side. If so, "my choice" John McCain would be beginning his 2nd term right now.

Ego, I give you props on your free thinking that is for sure. I'm starting to swing mine a little to far in one direction I need to get back to being analytical of things on my own. That is when I enjoy politics the best, but I'm still a rookie.

Why would you vote for a candidate that doesn't even know which party he stands for? If you think Kerry's a flip flopper, he took lessons from LIEberman.
I agree with you on McCain though. As far choices go we don't seem to have many anymore. I just wish voters would start giving independents more consideration.

I thought there was credible evidence that the election was once again stolen. Reminds me of the Soviet Union in the 1950's.

the only time Lieberman "flip flopped" is when he moved to the left as Al Gore's VP candidate. The Dems are always looking for the next Bill Clinton, but if someone in the Clinton mold came along, he couldn't get the nomination.

yep, even Saddam wouldn't be booed at the funeral. An image of him would draw either a chuckle or two, or "great concern' about his treatment by his American captors

Ego:

I live in Austin and I am one OF MANY in Texas that would rather have root canal surgery than spend time with this
guy ...

He indeed is doing his best to make Clinton look like a great President
