Bush seems a bit off-balance so far in the debate. Kerry looks pretty good. Still a long way to go......

Kerry won by a huuuuge margin, just like I said he would. The first polls from CNN show Kerry with huuuuuge lead.

Huuuuuuge lead. You wish. Bush came off looking like a leader, Kerry looked like a spokesperson. Kerry's little smirks while Bush was talking didn't make him look good either. This guy shouldn't and won't be leading the greatest country in the world.

American, try to be objective for a moment. Kerry won this debate tonight, period. Deal with it. You can support Bush, think he's better and all that, and still recognize the reality here that Kerry scored tonight. Where it goes from here, we'll see, but Kerry scored tonight. Deal with it.

yeah I heard that the CNN poll has 80% of respondents sayig they thought Kerry won. pretty huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge, :finger: Bush is a f*cking idiot, although at times he did o.k. Kerry could have done a little better, but, overall Kerry takes the win. :aktion033

This comment reminds me of how so many people thought Kerry had won the election with his "outstanding" convention speech. One week later it turned out to be a disaster. We still have no idea where he stands on any substantial issue. If you want to call that "scoring", feel free to do so. It won't change any minds however.

Kerry won the debate. How many times did Bush say "uhhm"... dozens !

Public speaking is difficult ! Witness most any jock, with a microphone in front of him... how about Mike Tyson ?

I won't be voting, never have, never will. The whole electoral college thing turned me off in grade school. Count the popular vote, not electoral. Too many states are already in the pocket of one or the other candidate. Why vote if your vote doesn't count ? It would truly count, but for the electoral college.

cnn poll

so 80% of cnn viewers think kerry won - hardly anyone watches cnn anymore - I bet at least 80 % of cnn viewers support kerry anyway. Fox has a huge lead in ratings nowadays and I bet the majority of their people think bush "won"

From the outside looking in:

I am beyond flabbergasted that anyone in here is defending Bush's performance. That might have been one of the worst displays of public speaking (leadership my ass) I've seen in a long time. Embarassing that this is the President of the United States.

I've been no fan of Kerry, but was mondo-impressed with him last night. Very very clear in his ideas (happened to agree with much of it) and very good at deflecting the sophomorish rhetoric Bush tried to fling at him.

How many times did Bush say 'mixed messages?'

And if saying 'we need to stay on the offensive' THREE times doesn't give you the heebie-jeebies, you're pretty much on your own.

Dante, I want both. Those qualities are not mutually exclusive. Isn't Bush who says you can't lead if you don't speak clearly on the issues? If I want a guy to run the country right I surely wouldn;t vote for Bush. Only reason to vote for Bush is if you want a stubborn jackass for the rest of the world to hate. Or if you're a multi-millionaire and need a tax cut.

not sure if he won the debate or not. kerry is clearly a more polished public speaker than bush. if kerry did win the debate, it was a narrow victory. certainly not the blow out he needed to sway voters.

if you are convinced that kerry won the debate...that's fine. he won't win the election so, what does it matter?

or if you don't want the most liberal man in congress to be in office for 4 years...taxing and spending us to death, dealing with terrorism indecisively and weakly, and naming liberal judges to the supreme court.

john kerry...no thanks.
