I believe him. He is a good republican. Some liberal probably slip something in the milk when he was not looking to make both him and Bush look bad. It worked and I for one do not like it !

I can't believe that the President would weigh in on this. What an idiot. Oh yeah, no question Palmeiro is telling the truth, but gosh golly I just don't know if Karl Rove leaked anything. We need a few more years to investigate.

The media loves to ask stupid questions, but it's not the White House PS's responsibility to respond with stupid answers. Given McClellan's usual evasiveness this is about as forthright as he gets.

I have no idea but I'm sure he did along with everyone in the leauge, well almost everyone. I just hate to see this filter down into the HS which I know has happen so we need to get tougher on this role models and quit slapping them on the wrist. Mayo clinic had some quote that only 20-30 test are in use but the ladder of the test you can beat unless your Rincon or Rafi.

If you took a poll of the knowledgeable sports fans/bettors on this site I'm sure 95% of them would say that Raffi's story about not "intentionally" taking steroids is bullshit. Don't you find it odd that Bush is on record as saying that he believes the story? Bush, who saw fit to champion the cause of eliminating steroids in sports by mentioning it in his SOTU address, and then as soon as a big name is implicated, he rushes to the defense of that player? No wonder he believed Cheney when Cheney told him that Iraq had "reconstituted its nuclear weapons program".

Edub I don't think he rushed to his defense as I heard he was asked to comment on it and probably knows just as much about it as we did at the time so sure he backed up his boy by saying he found it hard to believe Rafi was on the juice as I did also. He lied and he will take his slap on the wrist but my point or stance on the juice is don't let these role models are hurting the young kids of today.

I understand your comments on Palmeiro himself, I agree with you. There's been plenty of discussion about him in the offshore and baseball forums. But this is about George Bush. He took it upon himself to talk about eliminating steroids in his SOTU speech, and then as soon as someone we've all heard of gets caught, Bush says that he believes the guy didn't actually use steroids. Is the fact that Palmeiro is "his boy" more important than Bush's alleged concern over the use of steroids in professional sports?

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said President Bush -- who owned the Texas Rangers while Palmeiro played for the team -- considers Palmeiro ``a friend and he believes him'' when he says he never intentionally took steroids.

thanks:toast:

Had Oakland last night actually, they had some real nice odds for being the hottest team in baseball going up against a truly anemic offense. Will look to continue fading them until they show some signs of life.
