How come these games have so many bets being placed on them?

Usually the only time we see numbers this high is when we've got an ESPN prime time game.

Also the Purdue-Wisconsin figure is quite low.

Interesting, I ran a query on my data from the last 3 days (been tracking percentages and totals to disprove their relevance) and in games where there are more than 10,000 bets placed, it's a mid-major battle, you take the team with the larger percentage. These teams were 6-0-1.

Going to watch these 3 games (BUF/WMU, AF/WYO, MAR/USM). If they get to 10,000 total bets, bet on the team with the larger percentage. In 10K games, the team with the higher percentage is 20-12-2, making major conferences an irrelevant 14-12-2.

Both look like easy covers. Now 8-0-1. Interesting data to say the least. Lets see how the MAR/USM game finishes.

By the time it closed, 63% were on Wyoming.

Yes, Southern Miss would have been a play. They're down 6 at halftime so it's not looking good, but you can't win 'em all.
