This time of the season is a good time to bet like a square. That is, bet the favorites to win big. The reasoning for this is true for teams hoping to get the last playoff spot. However, many times you will get odds of -0.5 -200 for the favorite but this game is an exception.

The Sabres have been playing well in their last few games and beat this Penguins team 5-1 last night. Is there any reason to believe that this game will be any different in the outcome? The Pens are at home but are way out of the playoff race and Buffalo is still in contention providing plenty of incentive to do well here again today.

I've been betting BUFF past two weeks and been doing very well. They are a great team, and can pretty much give any team a challenge.. They will take this one, again..

I did watch that Buff/Pitt game last night and Pittsburgh looked slow, sloppy and disinterested. They were very lucky it wasn't 3-0 halfway through the first period. Buffalo is playing with confidence although to me they don't look like a playoff caliber team. This being said they did carry the play throughout and are desperate and dangerous.

However I do believe in past history in the NHL. For some reason it holds true much more often than not. I'm not a trend bettor but for this I make the exception.

If I had any balls I'd come back with Pittsburgh tonight as that was my initial feeling incase they did go on to lose last night's game. I just had a hard time believing that the Sabres would win two in two nights against a team they have always struggled with. But after that terrible performance by Pittsburgh I figure I won't take the chance of throwing good money after bad.
Good luck BGO

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Vic, I thought of the angle about winning twice in a row and I'm sure the oddsmakers thought of that as well. However, I feel this is a different time of the season to bet with Buffalo being hungry and Pitt throwing in the towel.

Do the Penguins have the motivation to win tonight? Perhaps to avenge last night's loss? I feel that they are looking at going through the motions tonight to finish out this long season.

BGO...one very real motivation for Pittsburgh to lose is for the #1 pick in next year's draft. But I have a hard time believing that the front office is telling the kids to pack it in. They had nothing to fight for a month ago but pride and then went on a 9-2-2 run. The motivation then was a bunch of call ups trying to make a name for themselves. A very real motivation and one as dangerous as a team fighting for a playoff spot.

When you talk about a pro athlete you talk pride and ego. Both of those were damaged last night in Buffalo and I'm just not convinced that the Sabres are that good.

The more we talk about this the more I'm talking myself in coming back with Pittsburgh tonight!

There are alot of 'situations' pointing to Pittsburgh, In the sense that they are a HOME DOG, aswell as this is the Back end of a HOME & HOME. Two situations I usually look at.

Not to mention their record against Buffallo....

BIG GAMES...I understand what you mean now about not being able to upload & getting the red circle cauz it happened to one of my friends here at the office, I dont know what the fvck is wrong but it seems people with certain profiles cannot upload from here, not even in the Handicapping section,

Anyway if you want to email me I will email it back to you, but the file is too big for yahoo or hotmail accouts....

VIC, if you are considering Pitt, I would suggest a last second wager as the VIG will likely move more & more against Buffaloes favor as we draw closer to game time...

opened at -105 NOW -115

Vic:

I remember you mentioning the young players coming up and that is why the Pens have done so well lately. I'm wondering if that is why Columbus is doing rather well too.

However, why did the Penguins look so bad last night? I believe you mention that they looked slow and sloppy. Were they not motivated last night? Is revenge enough for them to be motivated tonight? Perhaps. It will be fun to watch.

BGO,
I don't think that revenge for last night's loss will be a factor, However trying to save face for a pathetic effort is a whole different story.
If I was going to try to described to you why they looked slow, sloppy, and disinterested the only thing I could come up with would be that they want to finish last to get that 1st pick. They looked totaly different than they have in the last month.

But then again it could be chalked up to just one of those nights. None of us are at 100% every day at work. But if you want to keep your job you better make sure that you don't make it a habit. Know what I'm saying?

Savant,

Good advice on waiting and you can be sure that I will. I'm still not sure I'm going to take it. +.5/ +105 isn't enough of an incentive for me. SEE:Throwing good money after bad.

Congrats to those who may have taken Pitt at +0.5 as this game ended in a 2-2 tie. I thought that staying alive in the playoffs would trump the Penguins.

At least I got the UNDER 6.0.

i waas shocked Pitt did not pull the goalie in OT and go for the extra point.

they pulled the goalie last night for no reason and gave up a goal to kill my total.

Im still fuming.

Thought they might pull the goalie down 2-0 in the second period tonight.

See what happens when you keep your goalie in your net???

Unreal
