WVU -12.5 Writeup
Ok, since this game is first on this week's dockett, I'll go ahead and write it up first. As usual, we'll go O Vs D, and O vs D, then Intangibles, and other thoughts, along with possible parlay/ teaser options, and by confidence in it.
WVA Offense VS SYRACUSE Defense
West Virginia likes to run the ball and run it often. They have a stud running qb in Marshall, and of course feature Kay-Jay Harris. They boast a big physical offensive line, who wears down opponents as the game goes on. Syracuse has a terrible time stopping the run. 3 Times this year they have allowed 200+ yards rushing (260 by FSU, 240 by Virginia, and 244 by Purdue). This team is 5-1 ATS this year, and they are due for a serious letdown. They don't stop the run, and on the road that can mean trouble. They covered Virginia because that spread was 27, but remember a SYRACUSE personal foul on their own 3 that allowed UVA to run out the clock instead of scoring (My biggest loss of the year I'll never forget that). FSU sleepwakled in the carrier dome, because they were so banged up.. This defense isn't fast and they arent very big. That could spell serious trouble. 300 yards on the ground is reasonable to expect for the Mountianeers. Syracuse won't ever be in this one, because......................
SYRACUSE Offense Vs. WVA Defense.
Talk about inetp. This offense is putrid. Ridiculously bad. Outright God Awful horrible. A 3/5 TD/INT ratio? Are you kidding me? I watched them on espn versus my seminoles. After 1 half, I dumped my entire account, everything I own on FSU -10 in the second half. I hate total confidence that they are terrible. West Virginia can stop the run, and that is about the only thing that the Cuse can do decently. The only team to run on them in their last 10 games is Va Tech. The Cuse is no Va Tech. Go back to last week's column, where I touted both the WVA offensive and their defensive fron 7, which remains dominant. They will force Syracuse to pass, keeping them in 3rd in long, which they won't be able to convert.
I'd rather have Syracuse coming off a bye, because It gives Pascaloni more time to think of ways to screw up. He's an absolutely horrible coach. He's stayed at this job because he has McNabb, Bullick, and Harrison. I can't wait to see Paul Pascoloni come out in something crazy and get destroyed even more. On the other side Rodriguez is an excellent coach, who doesnt take ridiculous chances, runs the ball in Blank and short situations and on the goal line. He plays the percentages and is safe. Not to mention 4 layers are doubtful for the Cuse, 2 wr's, a linebacker, and a corner. My Projection: WVA 34- Cuse 9.
