Good point. They did have trouble with rape allegations there and who knows what else could be brewing.

Here is the CBS Article:

Franklin replaces Bill O'Brien who spent two seasons in State College and went 15-9 with the Nittany Lions despite taking over a
program in chaos. The new coach inherits a roster without much depth, but does have a blue-chip QB in Christian Hackenberg who is coming off a terrific freshman season. PSU, which was hit with crippling NCAA sanctions after O'Brien took over the program, got some scholarship
relief and sources say is optimistic the NCAA also might opt to reduce the bowl ban placed on the program.

Penn State also considered Miami head coach Al Golden and former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak, both former Nittany Lion players. PSU also interviewed San Francisco 49ers assistant Greg Roman last Monday for the job

Amazing that in most people's eyes it isn't really an upgrade. My how the game has changed.

Huge upgrade. I think he took Vandy as far as they can. Because he left sec for big should not be an issue. He had restrictions at Vandy that we could agree would keep him from ever playing in a conf title game or winning the Champioship. He no longer had that and now he does. I thought gecess best coach out there looking to move up, just can't believe Texas didn't grab him first

So funny that UMD kicked him to the curb and fired the ACC coach of the year in the same season....for Randy Edsall. What a joke of a program

LOL, they had Debbie Yow running things too!

Funny, the MD spin on forcing the Fridge out was that Franklin accepted the Vandy job. I guess they were thinking he would take over after Ralph Friedgen's contract expired???
