A shooting has occurred on the University of Oklahoma campus, officials with the school said.

"Shooting on campus. Avoid Gould Hall. Seek immediate shelter in place," the university tweeted just before noon central time on Wednesday.

No other details were immediately available.

Gould Hall is home to the school's architecture school.

University of Oklahoma is in Norman, Okla., about 20 miles outside of Oklahoma City.

The report comes after two campus shootings in the past two days. An unknown gunman wounded a student sitting in the parking lot at Widener University in Chester, Pa., on Monday. Tuesday, a teaching assistant was killed by a fellow electrical engineering undergrad at Purdue University.

The local news here is saying that no evidence of shots being fired. And a student reporter on campus said that President Boren just walked by him and gave the okay signal.

Hope Its a false alarm......Scary to say the least.
According to Norman and campus police, they are very close to calling this a false alarm. Boren said something about the shots being fired report was a result of construction equipment backfiring. And somehow social media got a hold of it and reported it or it was mistaken as a shooting story.
