My response came off a little harsh.....

I've just been fighting the TX info going public right now because it might give them a hint that people are on to them.

Don't take it personal BBD

bigboydan - This is a load of CRAP.

My tech guys have been tracing many of the DoS attacks and related and what was posted on MW is NOT the whole story and NOT the end of the trail.

Do you all think it would be this easy? Do you really think these high tech attackers would be this sloppy?
Of course not.

When all of the investigations are done we will probaby find that it points in many directions to cover their tracks and that is how they attacked using Trojan horse and sex dialers etc fromall over to control many innocent computers to do these attacks.

Stay tuned

And being that it is on majorWager I take it with a BIG spoonfull of salt.

Dan and others-

The only information thread that should be posted about this is: "DOS Attackers Caught" (A picture of their balls in a vise, before they are cut off would be a nice touch.)

Posting clues just helps them. (I think shortly after 911, the TV stations had LIVE coverage of the FBI trying to sneak up on terrorists in their hotel room. That's stupid. Film at 11, not while the criminals can see you sneaking up on them.)

Java - I agree 100% this only helps them..but maybe Minnows post was done on purpose to try to take the suspicion off the real people behind these attacks.

Let's see...first there were posters saying the attacks came from Panama

And NOW they are trying to say it's from Texas LOL

It's a bit SUSPECT on majors end

IB, I can tell you from firsthand knowledge that this info came from one of the books that was hit by the attack.

IB, To be honest, a lot of this tracer route business sails right over my head, a fact which I thought I made clear. I added a disclaimer last night, after posting my summary of a lot of docs I (and others) had been sent. The network forensic guys are confident they are on to something. Not all details have been released.

To suggest I would purposely post something misleading to "take suspicion off the real people behind these attacks" is ludicrous. Signed, Mata "Minnow" Hari

There have been several rumors. Hopefully these people(attackers) just die off and are never heard from again.

The General - No we will find them and the backers that put them up to it that THINK they are too far removed to be considered.

Minnow - I didn't mean you directly you were just innocently used. Nothing personal.

many of the sites we know of that were attack and held for ranson for $30,000 etc...instead said F.U. to them and went out and spent the $30,000 on Intrusion Detection hardware and went right back up. I'd rather spend the money on the Intrusion detection hardware which is a great upgrade anyways.

So there is NOTHING to fear as once you do the above (correctly) it's over...a bit of a hassle though

What IB posted does make sense , although it is the most expensive patch available.

There is no such thing as an available and permanent solution to these kind of attacks .

Books that, like us, have experienced a DDoS attack have knowledge about other, less expensive , alternatives to deal with this problem .

The real solution will be when these criminals will be caught.

Royal - Being that you are the 1st book to make a comment in this thread..are you the book that shared the above info with Minnow?

Just curious...

P.S. And yes there are perminent solutions (for now) but they are not 100% blocked...maybe 95% at best.

IB,

All industry's insiders ( apart from the self proclaimed ones ) have that information as of 48 hours.

Hopefully the criminals will be nailed soon. Email tracking is the most efficient way to track criminals.

Biggest problem is the status of the industry in the eyes of U.S. Govt. Hard to say who is officially stepping up to U.S. authorities at this time. However, if a lead to catch criminals is made public authorities have to intervene, regardless.

Everyone's aware feds enjoy spending their time sniffing these sites. Let hope they do the right thing in this case.
