So what we have here are 2 undefeated fighters
both at 20-0, but we must look closely. I was
at the MGM when Cotto fought N'Dou and it was
a good one. N'dou is truly tough as nails.
He tested Cotto's heart and stamina real good.
I feel Cotto learned much that nite. He is much
the better for it. Kelson Pinto, I have to say
has amassed a sterling record versus dubious
competition. What I'm seeing here is a $8000
claimer racing against allowance and stakes
horses. He hasn't seen anything like Cotto.
Betting huge chalk to me is difficult. At -329
at Pinny, I took Miguel. This is one of those
rare times I'll lay the lumber on what I feel
is a mismatch of class. You can't walk into a
Caddy dealer with Chevy funds. I'll pay the
big price for the quality product.

How much did you bet? I took Pinto. Third time is a charm.

Pinto has beat him at least once or a couple of times in the amateurs. They know each other pretty well both being Puerto Ricans. Pinto supposedly owns him and says he has his number. Cotto is definitely a different fighter since the amateurs but I dont think I want to touch this one because of the history.

pinto`s brazilian....and they`ll be fighting in puerto rico....

big edge to cotto...

what has me wondering is why pinto is in such a hurry to fight top contenders in their own backyards...hatton and cotto....

i don`t think the guy has to take chances like this....this early in his career...

i am a fan of cotto`s......but n`dou showed a few chinks in the armor....

over 3 to 1?...hmmmmm

Agree; a tad pricey. Thinking this a case of
the student becoming the teacher. Can Pinto
hang tough for the distance the way N'dou
did? Cotto, I feel is improving facing better competition while Pinto is fighting truly
marginal opposition. Kind of reminds me of a song titled "It's not how you start, but how you finish".

Thats right hes from Brazil. But these guys are very familiar with each other and Pinto has gotten the best of him from what I've read in their previous encounters. I read an interview on fightnews where Cotto even admits it.

I dont understand why Pinto is around +300 against Cotto but was +700 against Hatton ?
IMO the +700 were totaly out of line.
I rate Cotto higher than hatton.
For me Cotto is the outstanding talent in todays boxing and unlike alot of so called prospects he has fought very tough opposition.
The last time i thought i saw outstanding talent was Wlad Klitschko giving Axel Schulz the beating of his life and retiring him. See what happened to him. ( BY the way i still believe he has huge potential)
Pinto is a quality fighter (tall, can punch and has a good amateur record)
@ franks
to be honest i am surprised to see you make that bet. Pinto has the potential to beat Cotto he can take him out and if he uses his reach advantage and his jab he may even win on points.
Good luck to you but thats a very dangerous bet which has no value imo and i am really high on Cotto.

tony...i`m super high on cotto myself...

these tall guys that can punch give me nightmares,though....particularly guys that have extensive amateur credentials...

kudos to both for stepping up...

as i said,i`m startled that pinto is ready to rush into other people`s backyards to fight...particularly difficult fights at difficult, hostile venues...the guy will eventually be a mandatory for somebody...

my gut...cotto chops him down.....but,i still may wager a few bucks on the dog...

maybe..

btw....trying to figure out a way to bring willie gibbs` odds down.....the -400+ at 5 dimes is silly....way to high..still,i think the guy is talented.....so i hooked him up with hopkins in a parlay...i think they`re cousins...

hopkins is gonna hurt if he blows...

At pinny you get him at -363.
Tall guysthat can punch are a pain in the a.
Look at Tarver who is nowhere near Jones skillwise but one shot is all it takes.
maybe i take a shot at the under.
maybe Pinto needs money fast and thats why he takes risky fights, but maybe is not good enough for me.
I am waiting on a line for May vs Nelson.

Thanks to all for the feedback on the Cotto-
Pinto tilt. I agree that 3-1 is out of line.
The oddsmakers strike again! Anything over
3-1 is usually a no-go for me. After reading
the posts here, I am buying back the wager.
Not because I don't think Cotto isn't better,
but because the price isn't correct. At -185
it might be a good bet, but not now. Most
everyone was on the opposite side of me on
the Corrales-Frietas thing but I stood my ground. I had many good reasons. But logic
here says the numbers suck.

Nice shot Gil. Hope that helps cushion the JC loss. God Pinto could be good. If he had a trainer who had a brain that is. I mean seriously, he needs to get over here or go to Mexico and hook up with Nacho Bernstein. He's so crude. How does Nacho have a Jewish last name? Anyway, if that guy would just use the serious advantage that he has with that jab he would be awesome. Because he has an unreal reach advantage and damn good power.

All this guy needs is a trainer.

man did cotto look sharp....his defense was impeccable...those counter left hooks cotto was hitting pinto with after he threw those long right hands were a thing of beauty....

body work.....a pinpont,short right hand....

and no b.s.`ing around when he had pinto on queer street...

i saw nothing to criticize....one of the more complete performances i`ve seen in a long time....vs a dangerous, albeit a little "loose" and sloppy foe...pinto needs to realize you can`t fight a killer like cotto with your hands at your sides...

curious to see how pinto reacts to this destruction....he may have been a little stale....hadn`t fought in awhile...

still,i don`t see him beating cotto...short of landing one of those big right hands...

cotto looks like the next big thing to me....

he was razor sharp ...
