Is anyone else chomping at the bit for the big fights to get going for the new year. I think this may be the year for boxing to make a statement and get noticed for the first time in a long time. Besides a Tyson, DLH, or Lennox Lewis fight, when has boxing generated a buzz in the mainstream. Trinidad-Mayorga wasnt a great fight, but it was a great event that got some airtime on ESPN. Gatti-Ward may be another. So many great fights already made, and many more can possibly be made.
I still think Toney-Vitali Klitschko would be a bigtime event. Toney as the heavyweight champ would be the best thing for boxing right now. I know alot of you guys would argue me on that but i would lay down serious money he would win if it ever happens. As of right now its up in the air, so no reason to get into it.
Tszyu-Hatton will be great for the UK, and us hardcore fans. I am pulling for Judah against Spinks because I feel either DLH or Mosley would go right after the belt, and that would prob sell pretty good as a fight with either guy. Gatti- Mayweather would be a great event, which is possible This year. Corrales-Castillo, and Pacquaio-Morales. Need I say more. Cant wait.. should be great.. I miss talking boxing with you guys.... Loking forward to Mayweather kicking off the major boxing for 2005..

Hey cap, what up? Tszyu-240. Hmmm? I was thinking Hatton was a stiff, but we know Frank Warren is a gangsta so I wonder. I'm ticked Marquez did'nt get a shot at Manny. Big bucks with Morales though. I am on the same page with Zab and Corey. If Judah gets his head out the butt and doesn't move straight back as he is prone to do he can win here. As I stated in an earlier thread, I like Corrales over Castillo. I sure hope they install Castillo as the chalk. Pound city on Chico.

Well I am not excited about the first bouts we are hearing about. Mayweather vs Brusellas and Taylor vs Edouard.

I forgot Gatti vs Leija. I can't believe how they hand pick the opponets. Even though he lost to Leija Gatti vs Bojado would be something to look forward to but no way Main Events puts Gatti in with Bojado in this spot.

I hope it happens. Toney is by far the most complete fighter in the division. He would counter those big, slow shots after the first round.

Saw the Sandman back in October at foxwoods. Olivera was there in the crowd, seemed like a nice guy. They were announcing his Hatton fight. Vinny Pazienza was also there watching the fights. Bunch of young, local kids on the card from Ct, Mass, and RI. Interesting to see if any amount to anything in the next few years.

FrankS any idea what the odds will be on the Castillo-Corrales fight?

Well, I made the rounds yesterday and there weren't any lines posted at the Mirage or Mandalay on anything. Now I understand Mirage has lined Manny Pac-120 over Morales. I've been saying all along I HOPE they line Castillo as chalk vs Corrales. My guess is though the line will be close same as Pac-Morales. I might say Chico -175, or somewhere in that range. It should be almost a pic em but I feel the perception is that Chico's stock is rising and the public sees him as the better bet. I think right now the oddsmakers are weighing public opinion. If Castillo was at his best versus Casamayor then I like Corrales. I was ringside and I still believe Joel won by at least a split. Slight edge to Corrales. Hope this makes some sense.

Tickets weren't for sale as of Thursday if in fact it's at Mandalay. Funny thing about Pac man-Morales. 5Dimes had it posted Morales -125, +110 coming back. Now they took it down. Hmmm?
