Pistons -2 (-115), 1*
While Barrett is out again with an illness, the Raptors are surprisingly getting Quickley back from injury today. Dick is also back after missing yesterday’s game with Boston. While I wouldn’t bet Toronto against anyone when they are missing Barrett and Bruce Brown, they have enough talent to beat the Nets at home. Cam Thomas is resting for Brooklyn, as the Nets play again tomorrow and Thomas just returned from injury. Him and Ziaire Williams being out is basically a wash with Barrett and Brown. I think the Raptors have more talent in this game and I’ll roll with them tonight.
Detroit has been playing well. They are 5-3 in their last eight games. They went 3-1 on their recent west coast trip. They have had three days to rest and are playing an Orlando team who had offensive limitations before Banchero and both Wagner’s went down. The Pistons are in a tight battle with four other teams to get into the play-in tourney. If you remember, I bet them to make the play-in round and go over their win total, so they are basically exactly where I thought they would be. I think this is a good opportunity for them to beat another good team and continue their upward trend.
I was going to bet Philly, but I don’t know anymore. They have their typical litany of injury issues. Embiid is out. Oubre was a late addition to the injury report. Drummond, Gordon and Lowry could all be out again. They need some depth in this game. If Lively plays for Dallas, I will bet them against Houston. I like their chances against the Rockets if they have both Lively and Gafford to throw at Sengun. Same story with Atlanta. If Jalen Johnson plays, I will bet them against Denver. Without Aaron Gordon, Johnson would have an advantageous matchup on the offensive end. I will update in an hour or two. GL
