The good thing for BOS is that they won't need to offer checking accounts since they DO NOT PAY

Banks must remember that ALL US Dollar transactions, MUST clear thur the Federal Reserve Bank.

Offshore Banks must maintain a correspondant banking relationship, and require the Offshore Bank deposit ( post up ) most or all of the line of credit required by the corresp bank.

IF the Feds have a problem with an Offshore Bank or one of their account holders, they can simply attach what they want from the Corresp. Bank, who in turn will grab that amount from the offshore bank, and may then turn around and kick out the offshore bank as a customer.

FOREIGN BANKING, ESPECIALLY AFTER 9/11, AIN'T AN EASY RIDE.

BetonSports.com CEO to Actively Lead Way Towards Regulation of Online Gambling in USA

Christopher Costigan, Sports911.com

BetonSports.com controversial CEO David Carruthers warned that if the online gambling community does not take a stand now against overzealous politicians, there will be serious ramifications for those involved with, not only the operation of online casinos, but those who promote them as well.

He spoke before some hundred individuals gathered at this weekend’s Casino Affiliate Convention held by organizer, Marc Lesnick of Startcasino.com fame. Among those in attendance were reporters from The Wall Street Journal, London Times and the Las Vegas Sun.

“The press is very interested in this,” Carruthers told Sports911.com.

The BetonSports.com CEO has reached out to other serious online gambling operators in an effort to organize a strong lobbying effort in Washington , D.C.

Carruthers has already written to around twenty U.S. Senators and intends to follow up with phone calls in the coming week.

“I basically told them (in these letters) a little bit about the industry, my concerns,” Carruthers explained. “It doesn’t layout a position in the letter so I wanted the opportunity to do that face to face. But it gives a little background as to the size and substance of this industry.”

Carruthers wants all serious operators to hire lobbyists as a means of representing the industry.

But the vast majority of these businesses are run by Americans fearful of retribution from the US government. Many are paranoid about using their real names after a colleague, Jay Cohen, founder of World Sports Exchange, was indicted and subsequently sentenced for violating an archaic 1962 Wire Act.

“Hire somebody or there is a huge opportunity with the Costa Rican Gaming Authority,” Carruthers suggested. He also stated that the Antiguan government might be willing to help out in this area.

Fact of the matter is that BetonSports brought on David to represent the company, which at one time, like many of the offshore sports books, had strong New York roots. Carruthers did suggest that it might be difficult to find someone qualified enough. After all, we are talking about a guy who served in a key management role for more than a decade at Ladbrokes.

We will have more of our interview with Mr. David Carruthers in the November issue of CTN Magazine coming in November.

These off-shore bookmakers flatter themselves. The power of their dirty money does not extend to the U.S. Congress. That's a whole different ballgame. The only ones that are going to end up liscensed for internet sports gambling in the U.S. are Nevada casinos, as well as other casinos LEGALLY operating in the U.S. These off-shore bookmakers will NEVER get the legitimacy and respect that they so desperately long for. They are destined to be lurking around these shadowy third-world countries (where their money DOES buy influence). The current situation is as good as it's going to get.

They don't pay income tax on it. Money gets laundered through sportsbooks. Illegal money transfers through sportsbooks. Money from organized crime filtered through sportsbooks.

It would be very risky for any Congressman to go to bat for the off-shore gaming industry. Self-preservation is something that they live by in Washington.

I'm not against the off-shore gaming industry. I'm just saying to quit fantasizing about getting legislation passed to legalize everything to make it easier for the off-shore industry to make money. It sounds like these off-shore bookmakers are tired of living with the threat of imprisonment over their heads, but that's as good as it's going to get. No laws will be passed to help these guys. If you think there will be, then that's your right to dream I suppose.

So why exactly will the laws not get passed in their favor? Want to elaborate on your opinion for us?

Because political people can be bought............and are highly greedy.

I can very easily see DON BEST BOOKS being thrown into the Boston Harbor at some point in the future.

American is correct.

US Gov will only "recognize" offshore gambling activity when the market can be dominated by US Corp they can then tax.

Until US finds an "acceptable" way to collect US taxes, laws to punish offshores will stay as is and probably get worse.

First, kill the competition, next regulate te activity, finally tax it ( for the public's safety & general welfare, of course).

So what's new?

Good luck to Caruthers. He's English. Easy for him to say. As "American" says though, "Self-preservation is something they live by in Washington". No one's going to touch this money in Congress because it is tainted.

What´s amazing to me is the audacity of this balding Brit to think that he can write a few long winded, piece of shit letters to a few Senators and they will all readjust their schedules to meet with Carruthers and discuss how they can make life easier for the offshore bookmakers, an activity which is ILLEGAL in the United States. If he goes up to Washington with his agenda of fantasies, I wouldn't be surprised if they jail him under the Patroit Act and throw him in an 8 X 10 cell with a 300 pound psycho African American gorilla. After a few years in the joint, he´ll limp back to Costa Rica with his hole busted, no longer anally retentive.

American - Correction is in order -

Under the jail circumstances you described, which would not occur in a min fed security facility anyways, Mr. C would most likely return to Costa Rica both orally and anally retentive.

Do you know Railbird? You sound like his twin.
