Best hotels to stay at, best restaurants to eat at, places to see, places to shop?

I was there on business in Dec so I didn't get to see much of the city. But I can tell you that the Sheraton near the airport is very nice (pricey, but nice). Not close to attractions, but I kinda like that, keeps things quiet. If you're looking for super cheap shopping (ie mostly counterfeits) ask a local to take you to "San Andresito" and you will find virtually anything you need. I bought a stack of 20 DVDs for like $15 USD

Good shopping at the malls. There is a all men's designer store named ARTURO CALLE, all kinds of really nice clothes and great prices. I specially recommend their suits if you are looking for some or need to update your wedding/funeral wardrobe. Food is pretty much the same as here, a good typical dish is the Ajiaco de Pollo, a great steak house is Andres Carne de Res.

It get's pretty cold at nights and i think right now it's still rainy season.

FWIW, I though the stuff in large malls was overpriced or at least comparable to the US prices, I didn't see any great bargains. However, the malls were very nice. The one called "Gran Central" was VERY impressive, just as nice as anything you'd find in the US.

One more thing: Keep in mind that there have been some recent anti-American bombings in Colombia earlier this year. DoS has recommended avoiding all outdoor cafes, all public metro/buses and events aimed at Americans (like Super Bowl parties, etc). I'd sign up for the DoS alerts before going there

I think most of the american brand names you'd find are overpriced, i'd stick to the local production. That's why i recommended Arturo Calle, local designer great prices and quality. By the way here is a pic of me with my tour guide.
