While his competitors are focusing on executing tried and true business plans, Bodog CEO Calvin Ayre is ambitiously looking at another path. Love or hate Bodog, one cannot argue that the company is following an uncharted course.

Interesting concepts to say the least - These are the voyages of the Starship, BODOG. Its 5-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilisations, to boldly go where no book has gone before..."

BOL. Bodog, wil.

Never did like Bodog..played w/ them a few times and never did like their site for wagering...

"Plans for next year include an advertising budget of more that $50 million"

But i guess they are doing good if they can spend that much for advertising...GL

It takes a lot of millions to keep finding new fools to play at that useless 'book'.

The best "business" approach in the sportsbook industry. These guys have done the best job of any book of acquiring square players. Their volume increase is unmatched by any book over the last 2 years. Very impressive work. I would bet big money that they have the best hold % of any book online.

But where else can you find a 50K overlay in a poker tourney.

Even if my J set and K set have busted me out to river flushes the last 2 weeks.

A place to avoid if you want REAL sportsbooks to thrive. BoDog will never put out an opening line. They just copy from the legitimate books, after the $ has been bet and the line moves of course. They run a suckers only shop.

Exactly...they run a profitable business rather than a sportsbook. They are the best "business" model in the industry.

They are the last to put up their lines and they are still dual lines! I know locals who have their line up earlier. I guess they are profitable but its just amazing the number of people who would be stupid enough to play there. I guess a lot of people play 6/5 blackjack, probably same people.

BoDog sounds like a Las Vegas Hotel sportsbook with there approach. I never used them so I don't know but from what's been posted here it's sounds just like the Vegas approach which most here on the site view as a joke.

Translation: We opened up a deposit only operation, lose money with us or get lost. And you want to give kudos to this dump? Of course they make money. How in the hell can they lose?

I highly doubt they are spending 50 million on advertising in one year....

Chuck,

I am not a BoDog player so I don't know how they treat winners. My point is just they are great at what they do which is make money and market better than any other book. Great marketing usually means a profitable business. I think they do a great job of taking care of the customers they are targeting. They are not a stiff book even if you do beat them. As I understand it, they cut your limits (as do many books) but you are always paid. How can you not give kudos to a book that pays? It is a great out for a recreational player. Just because it is not a shop that gives much value to real bettors doesn't mean there isn't a place for them in the industry as they have proven.

Make no mistake about it, I am not a player there nor will I ever be. But I think they have done an incredible job of making their business a success.

It would be like saying name brand clothing should not get kudos for making money. They sell you clothes for inflated prices but are they crooks when there are idiots out there that will pay these ridiculous prices?
