If you need to know this 15 minutes before kickoff you shouldn't be capping (or trying to cap) this game.

My advice: either lay off or tail someone good and make it a small play

I have capped games 15 minutes in advance. Heck, I would even pick up the paper, call my bookie, choose sides as I was talking to him and I would write down my plays during the readback. Then again, those were the days I would CONSTANTLY lose money.

Anyways, just because I have done it - or you are trying to do it - doesn't make it right. I learned the hard way that you have to respect the line and the only way to win is through discipline and money management.

Anyways, nowadays I still make plays just for the action but they are usually quarter unit plays and instead of trying to cap those games, I simply follow someone I think is a good capper. For example, blindly followed someone in the NBA and took Cleveland.

The difference between the old days and these days is that I am making money these days and I was "having fun" back then. I guess one has to decide what one wants from gambling before one even starts betting. I don't want the action anymore - I just want money.

Oh yeah, my other rule is:

In ANY All-Star game, always take the dog - you will notice that a major cause of line movement in these games is STEAM and the public tends to think the line movement is a function of sharp money - when it is actually a snowballed positive feedback effect. I took the dog on that game today, but this play was for a full 1% of my bankroll and not 0.25% like the NBA game was.
