Rap and R&B stars Mary J Blige, Missy Elliot and Eve are recording a song to encourage voters away from President Bush in the run-up to the US election.
The trio are re-recording the 1960s hit Wake Up Everybody, which was used during the 1976 election to mobilise black voters to back Jimmy Carter.

Chuck Sims,

Blacks voting isn't enough. They have to remove the chad completely from the ballot as well.

I really hope you're just trying to be a jackass, becuase those are some bad lyrics, even by hip-hop standards.

Missy Elliot, for the record, should shut her trap. She was on that show 'Cribs' or whatever it's called a little while ago; her lifestyle includes adorning a new pair of jeans with $10,000 worth of jewels and then turfing them when she's done. Weekly. She doesn't like to give them to charity because then hers wouldn't seem original. I don't particuarly have an issue with rich people (all the power to them) but come on! Self-serving hypocrite.

I would like to know where the proceeds will go from this track. Or, why we don't see these same names making albums for the individual causes that land under 'liberal' umbrella.

This is all Reagan's fault.

DP...Don't worry the mighty Zep is smart enough not to let the levee break.

X...(Missy Elliot, for the record, should shut her trap)

Welcome to liberal land where up is down and down is up.Where the purpose to Bash bush is founded on the "hipness" of it.

One of the only politically-themed Zep songs I can think of off the top of my head is "That's the Way," which is more social commentary than political. Anti-pollution, anti-racism, couple of other disparate antis all rolled into one. Pretty song, one which is btw almost impossible to play on the guitar despite its simple-sounding tune.

Learning to play Jimmy Page riffs is enough to put anyone on heroin. I suspect that's why Page got so badly addicted to heroin in the 70's, all that time trying to learn to play like Jimmy Page and all.

I gotta admit, NJ....I'm a liberal, against Bush, but not really enthused about Kerry either...actually more or less equally cynical about both parties....

....but those lyrics made me laugh....
