It's not bad for Detroit. AI's 20 mill will be off the books after this year and they'll have money available to lock up Stuckey and Amir Johnson. Billups was getting up there, he was expendable. I think it's solid for both sides..

Great trade for Denver. I was ready to call their management the worst in the league after getting rid of Camby and not adding any C, but this is a very good trade. I'd take Billups on my team over Iverson any day.

I don't like the trade though because I have some good money on Detroit to not only win the East, but win the title also, and I think my chances are worse with AI on the team instead of Billups. He might be more flashy, but he's not the better player.

Billups is a calm, steady influence on Detroit and he's Mr. Clutch for them.

Iverson on the other hand, despite his immense talent, brings chaos with him everywhere he goes.

One largely ignored impact of this trade is it blows up the all-star tattoo lineup in AI, JR, Melo, K-mart.

Good trade for both teams, but I like it a lot more for Detroit. Guess I am alone with that thinking, but I love it for the Pistons. A big part of this trade is the fact that AI's contract will come off the books after this season. Not many people are discussing that. Also, the Pistons had not won anything substantial the last several years. They had to change something up. If it doesn't work this season, AI is gone and they have tons of money to work with.

As for Denver, the Iverson and Melo thing never worked. Nor was it ever going to. They had to make a move as well. Getting Billups is nice for them, he gets to go home. The only downside is the fact that Billups has a monster contract with years left at big money.

Overall, I think the winner is Detroit. They shed the big contract of Billups, get a proven scorer in AI, and have the chance to have over 20 million in money to spend going in to next season.
