What are some of your biggest surprise teams that have out-performed their per-season ratings thus far and which teams have been a disappointment?

For surprise teams I'd say that UAB has improved their power rating the most. Followed by BYU, Notre Dame, USC, and Virginia Tech.

For disappointments I'd put Vandy at the top of the list, followed by UCLA, South Carolina, SMU, and Fresno St.

Good call on Texas A&M, I was only looking at teams that had played 2 lined games and I ignore their game against Lamar. The offensive explosion by Florida could be something to keep an eye on as well, granted it was against E Mich, but the offense has been holding them back for so long. Pitt could be a good bet as a dog with their power running game we saw with that big back Conner the other night.

It's a little early for Indiana. They don't have any defense, but they'll probably end up being a pretty good cover team in a weak conference...

georgia southern. power running team i think.... seems like new FBS teams have been very good to back. not sure if there's been a major exception. south alabama?

i see LA Tech, cal (and not on the list above south florida) all seem to have improved. 2nd year highly regarded coach.... i thought that LA Tech didn't cover game 1 (could be the case as those are simply ATS totals. like temple is 1-1 ATS - i think - but has one huge cover)

Old Dominion played a good game against NCST.

Seeing how bad Big Ten played this weekend.

Vandy is the biggest WTF team. The fall from grace wasn't supposed to take 1 game!

I know that Franklin is a good coach but i dont know if Mason is in way over his head or they just dont have the talent this year. I've seen parts of both of their games and they are not competitive at all.

Michigan St?? that's a pretty tough grading scale. They just lost on the road to a top 5 team

Agreed. Stanford does not belong there either. And why isn't anyone talking about FSU? They have looked average at best after two weeks and will not run the table this year.

Most improved teams-

-Memphis started getting better last year but would just shoot themselves in the foot. They almost won at UCLA this weekend.. I look for Memphis to cover a bunch of lines this year. Offense is pretty dang good.

- Ole Miss- much improved could only lead to 8 regular season wins but were much better on D. The most depth on Defense I've ever seen in Oxford. We play around 8-10 Dlinemen and the back 7 has a quality back up at every position. If the oline can keep getting better we will have a quality chance to win every game... I didn't say we would win every game but we would be in every game. I'm thinking 9-10 regular season wins.

-Arkansas- much better than last year. The oline and RBs are as good as anyone's. they will beat Texas Tech this weekend...

- Georgia- if they can get quality QB management they will have a chance to play for a national title. Gurley is the best RB in the country.

- Miss State- in the same boat as ole miss... Only won 6 last year but wouldn't surprise me if they won 9. The D got lit up with the vertical passing game this week but I don't think that will be the normal. Around Mississippi this was the most hyped 6-6 team you've ever heard about... They got brought to earth last weekend. I look for a dominate performance this weekend... Dline and backers are legit. QB and skill players are more than solid.

A&M is better this year. The offense is being played as designed for the first time. They will be better because the defense is better. Look they're going to score on everyone.. Remind me of Auburn. Both teams defenses can take shots at turnovers and just make a few stops a game because both offenses are that good. Wouldn't surprise me if the A&M vs Auburn game winner plays in Atlanta.

I see my guy Devonte Kincaid is getting some snaps at QB. He's a kid I coached and a Skyline HS kid. I hope he fits in and does well.

WinOne that is one impressive young man on and off the field. He is a natural leader. The ole miss faithful are high on switchblade Kincade. Have you read the letter from him to the coaches on signing day? Ill look it up and post it here...

Dear Sir:

Today is National signing day and as the quarterback of this class, I feel like I have to lead by example. Today I commit to lead in practice, on and off the field, in the classroom and in everything I do as a Rebel. I will give my best at all times as a student and as the quarterback by studying the playbook, executing the offense, and doing all I can to get us to Atlanta and securing the National Championship. God has blessed me to be the QB for the best recruiting class in Ole Miss History. I do not take that lightly. Today February 6th is when it starts, by getting up earlier than I have to be the first one to send in my National letter of Intent! I am an Ole Miss Rebel and by the grace of God, I can do all things through him who gives me strength! Mr. Switchblade DPK let us go to work!

Sincerely,

DeVante P. Kincade

Hugh does a great job of giving his second QB full series in the middle of games... That's a great way to prepare for the future and if something happens to BO he will be more prepared to take the reigns... I expect DK to get 100-150 game snaps this year... That is great development for a back up... Only so much you can do on the practice field.

Yessir. He's a really good kid. One of my favorites. He'll do Mississippi proud on and off the field. One of my Ag buddies and I will be hosting some of his family/friends for an event when they come to College Station Oct 11.
