Stacilu: I agree with several of your comments...I teach middle school science and have similar problems as you...

IEP's ...I have several different ones per class..504s..
My classes were overloaded...I had around 30-32 students per class...
I have a lot of Hispanic students that were placed in my class that can't speak English...I would have to spend time taching in both ENglish/Spanish...I have no backing by the administration...Kids can sit there and cuss all day long but the principal would just send them back to class with a soda or something...All it would do is get everyone wanting to get kicked out so they could go to the principals office...
The most discourging fact would be that I have 25 kids in class that would want to learn...then 3-5 kids that do not care..would disrupt the other kids constantly...There was not much I could do ....Principal would send them back to class and they cont. like before disrupting...Half of the kids parents don't care and change there phone on a weekly basis....IT is just tough sometimes....

Believe me, I feel your pain. Those problems you mentioned are all
very serious, and the shame is that these idiots that never spent a
day in a classroom think they have the answers. If you read my post
about the threat of being arrested I would suggest you give it a chance.
It worked for me, not all the time but it was a good tool. Your other point
about the parents is also very valid. These questions and problems
have to be addressed eventually. The R's say we should test and test.
It is so amazing how stupid they are.

stacilu - there you go again - Your attitude says "How dare anyone criticize me or my system!

I'm not saying all teachers are bad. But there are a lot of bad teachers that are protected by tenure. I bet you knew quite a few of them.

Administration has been stripped or limited of its ability to discipline bad teachers and bad students.

Teachers have been stripped or limited in their ability to get rid of the disruptive and bullying students.

Everyone seems to have forgotten why the education system is there. I was taught that it's there to help make better citizens and more productive workers.

Standards have been lowered and a lot of students are getting lost in the mix.

You said "I pride myself in the fact that I reached not only the bright but the not so bright also."

What about the borderline kids - those bright ones who gravitated to the dark side - but weren't bad - what about them?

Again, the system is broke and all that people like you do is throw up a bunch of road blocks toward repairing it.

I might not know anything about teaching a bunch of 12 year old kids in a class room setting, but over the years I,ve trained a few hundred laboroers, supervisors and managers in how to perform in the work place. I've been stuck with bad attitudes, punk kids who were never trained in anything, including math and english; I;ve been stuck with frustrated young men who werer new fathers and were starting to figure out that they didn't have all of the mental tools and training that they needed to raise their family properly.

I've been frustrated at the inability of people to perform at the simplest level - and yes, I blame you and everyone who supports a system that deny's anyone the tools they need to succeed.

You sir are not the solution, you are the problem!

I have no idea what this last post has to do with our
original argument and discussion. Why am I surprised,
every time you are destroyed in an argument you simply
disappear or completely change the subject. Blight,
you sometimes try to be a moderate but your true feellings
sneak out. Here is a clue, that is the reason you lose almost
all your arugments. It is too difficult to defend extreme
causes. And believe me and most of the other forum
members when we say you are a right wing nut case.
This is even worse than being a exteme left wing nut case.
Don't you read or hear the responses to your nonsense?
Didn't you read the other two teachers that responded?
Don't you know you are way out of the mainstream?

It is really difficult to try and reason with people like you.
Your type just won't allow it. I am afraid Jenn was correct
when he said just laugh at them and get right to the point
by calling them names.

You know what makes me very happy? I am so pleased when
you nut cases express your opinion and the general population
really understand your true agenda. You are "diggin your own
grave". Carry on.

Stacilu - What's this? I make a few salient points and you run and hide by trying the "that ain't the subject" ploy?

By your own admission, you were a teacher.

You've said to me a few times that you're the expert and that I should butt out of those things I don't know anything about.

That's just the same attitude I got from the public school people who were supposed to be teaching my children; "The problem is you bad parents who won't make my job easier".

Give me a breaak!

I sent my kids off to Parochial School and all of a sudden they're doing subject matter two years ahead of the rest of their public school friends.

Geeze , I really changeed as a parent, didn't I.

After seeing all of your self important posts, I really wonder if you were a good teacher or a tenure protected hack.

What pisses me off is that I had to pay taxes to a school system for failing me and mine while I still had to pay tuition for parochial school - which brings up another point - the attitude of public employee teachers to their bosses - the citizens and student parents - which mirrors your uncivil manner.

stacilu - I wonder how long you'd last in the dreaded private sector?

Idiot, I told you before but your are demented or just have
a very convenient memory. I worked with success in
the "private sector." Again, you make an inaccurate
statement. And this time you have no excuse because
we discussed it before. So what is it? Retarded? Demented?

I will allow you the last statement because I think
your argument was destroyed again. Read and reread some
of the responses by the good people on this forum.
Compose away my demented friend.
