Betting on NFL Pre-Season Over/Unders <hr style="color: rgb(96, 96, 150);" size="1"> I saw this on another site, thought it was interesting and wanted to share it. These are Trends and I know that trends tend to even out over time.

1. Never bet a pre-season game to go Over the Total if the home team is an Underdog. Since 2001 home dogs have gone 18-44-2 to the Under (71%)

2. Play a pre-season game Over the Total when the O/U line is 34' to 36 points. 19-5 O/U last 4 seasons (79%) Remember, only play the Over when the home team is favored in this line range.

3. Play Under the Total in an expected High-scoring game. When the O/U line is 42-44 these games have gone 2-7 to the Under in the last 4 seasons (78%) Exception: In the last 9 years there were only two games where the O/U line was Really high (46 or more points) Both games went Over the Total (2-0 O/U)

4. Go Under with a low O/U line.. But go Over with a Really low O/U line. When the O/U line is 31'-34 these games have gone 7-20 to the Under in the last 4 seasons (74%) Finally, when the O/U line is 30-31 these games have gone a Perfect 4-0 to the Over!

No play on the total tonight as I got both 31 and 31.5 at 2 different books.
31.5 favors the under and 31 favors the over.

Hey Woodie,

I don't mind other 'cappers or posters cutting and pasting the articles that I write for "another site'. But you could at least mention WHERE where you got that info.... and give out the proper credit like true professionals and journalists should. This comes from Marc Lawrence's pre-season PLAYBOOK newsletter. And I'm the one who researched and wrote the article.

I got it from another site named Bettorschat and the guy there never mentioned where he got it from. Thanks for the info.:103631605

The only problem with this system is that it doesn't say which book to get the line from so your Record may not be as accurate as it could be. Take the first game the other day, I had 2 different lines from 2 different books. You lost with one of the books lines and won with the other. Which book did you use?

as you sorta state below..it depends where and WHEN you get the line. expect some changes in these numbers before kickoff which could change the over/under play

those trends above are tracked by closing lines. So whatever a line closes at would be where it applies in the trends...

Woody, why is the Minnesota game an Under play? Per the guidance above, the total is between 34 and 36 and Minny is favored, thus the over should be the play. Thanks in advance for your input.

2. Play a pre-season game Over the Total when the O/U line is 34' to 36 points. 19-5 O/U last 4 seasons (79%) Remember, only play the Over when the home team is favored in this line range.
34' is the same as 34.5

Minny's Line is at 34, which favors the under.
When the O/U line is 31'-34 these games have gone 7-20 to the Under in the last 4 seasons (74%)

An interesting pre-season OU tendency yes..... but that covers all four weeks of pre-season action. Sometimes, it's more important if we separate our OU tendencies by the week. And in that case, here's some revealing numbers for WEEK ONE action:

NFL 'X' games in WEEK ONE have gone 4-16 O/U in the last 3 years when the Over / Under line is 35 or more points. And remember, this is for WEEK ONE action in which BOTH teams are playing their first pre-season game. So that will put me on the UNDER in tonight's Cowboys-Chargers game.
