I have spoken to many intelligent gamblers lately who have stated that it is pure idiocy to try and make money betting against a team with a big injury. Invariably the depleted team plays harder and with a nothing to lose mentality, and they get there a lot. Be warned!!!!!!!!!!

Only problem with la winning is down the road the 2 teams will meet for the right to the nba title. The mavs will be judged on how well they beat la with their best players being out, can't beat la bad without shaq, kobe malone won't beat em with them. They really have to destory.

for the last 2 days i've read the usa today sports section, both times there was big articles about cleveland not having scores with no lebron, and then about Pippen calling his team out

I went 2-0 going against both of these, i just thought it was interesting

applies to NFL as well

1. no player is worth a whole lot of points (depends more on role on team than actual stats)

2. like you said above, the other players on that team KNOW the player is out and step it up

3. players on the OTHER team know the player is out and tend to slack off a bit

4. the books adjust the lines for injury, not sure why the public sees a bargain on an injury team AFTER the line move, if anything the bargain is after that line move on the injured team. If there is not a line move when a player is announced out it is not b/c the books "are dumb".

5. I havent paid much attention lately, but last year I noticed that middles hit more frequently on injury games.
