I dont want to leave anyone out but off the top of my head
Bloodhounds,
Sixth Sense,
Shortbus (esp on BigXII),
Silver Goblin,
Raiders,
NY Sports
Panther (Carolina region)
Dr DEATH
are sharp. I dont know what their records were, and it doesnt matter, you dont want to be opposite these guys over time. Dimeplayersonly, Judge Wapner, Wild Bill, Lander, Dicky W, Rooster, MJRed, 2006, Ben Dover, NY REB are sharp as well, some dont post picks per se but provide invaluable info. There are others I'll try to look into it and post some more. Look for people who post %'s, and dont care about past w/l records, the next day and week and month is what matters. Forecast 28 is very sharp in bases.

atx is pretty salty himself (even though he is a longhorn). look for the # of posts and how long folks have been here. death, panther, dan is informative, mcirish can't be beat. just my opinion. more importantly than the picks is money management. when folks throw ten picks a week they are guessing. follow the guys that give one or two a week. everybody is pumped now so many will be giving a lot of picks. gl to you this season and welcome to the rx crew. i believe you will find information from some sharp fellas to make your educated guess.

I have never played his picks nor played his football yet, but I don't think there is a better overall capper on these forums who shares than ATX. Before you guys attack me, he seems to be one of the few who has a plan and sticks to it over the course of time and those are qualities I hope to master one day. My only problem is if I could post those 2nd halfs just a tad bit earlier.

Anyways, I look forward to making money this football season especially after this week. Good luck to all. Football season is finally here.

Why should anyone attack you for sharing your opinion? We're a fairly friendly group who by and large pull for each other.

BTW, I appreciate ATX including me in his "honorable mention" section

ATX is a pretty solid capper himself. I have had some amazing years, along with some mediocre ones -- a lot can happen over 20 years of doing this. Catch me on the right week and I'll win you some money, but hey, anyone can say that

Here's hoping that everyone at the RX has a great year this time around!

I agree, ATX has his stuff together. And I appreciate his remarks on my handicapping. I believe my NFL is extremely strong, going 65-49 57% last year. As for my college, I would like to believe my college picks are of some value as well but I had a terrible season last year. I am a situational type handicapper and my situations gave me too many games last year and I tried to pick the winners from the losers to pare down the games. While the situations, overall, still hit about 55%, I did far worse, seemingly picking the losers from the winners. Point is my situations are very strong but I simply misused them last year.

I have fixed the problem and I expect a very good year this year. I'm sure most people do or they wouldn't bet to start with. And I've had some incredible years in the past including winning about 62% of my games in 2000.

For my handicapping, I recommend watching my NFL plays and as for college, the same, but I would make sure I have fixed my problem in the colleges before getting in too deep with my college plays first.

Good luck this season. Thanks ATX.

thanks for sharing your thoughts guys, anyone else out there share your perspective, every year there are a few new guys that show up and really pound the man, I can tell from a person's picks what they are looking at a lot of the time, it's a language of numbers. A lot of people have asked why I post. There are several reasons: #1 I'm trying to find someone that can return more than I can and tail them, it's all about $$$. #2. I want negative feedback, I think a lot of things over and post my thoughts hoping for criticism--this is how I focus on things that I miss. #3. A lot of things that I do or wager on I dont know the exact reason why. When I start writing it surfaces, the subconscious sees a lot of correlations before the sample size makes it obvious.

Last year I averaged 11-13 NCAA wagers per week. I typically passed on only 1 or 2 NFL games per week, usually had 5-7 totals. 2nd halves varied, I use a lot of situational halftime scores and pounded the 58% or greater historical advantages, some weeks had several, some weeks had few. I didnt have nearly as many wagers as I have had this preseason, not sure how I'll go about it this year. IMO, if you are only wagering on 60% situations, and passing on 55% situations you are leaving a lot of food on the table.

Altice, the site was jammed for a lot of the NFL 2nd halves, it was taking 10 minutes for me to get a post in. Maybe I'll send them by email first, I'll try to respond to the email from you and everyone else this evening.

This comment I tend to disagree with. I for one have played many games in every sport but was up at the end of the season. The # of plays someone plays is irrelevant imo.

dream just stating that its tough to pick 10 teams or more a week every week. especially this early. not to say that i haven't. this early in the season its very hard to have a grasp on all these teams. by bowl time yes. i put a lot of time and research into each play. contest (team x vs team y) with respect to the openingline. too much information in college that is overlooked. nfl is under the microscope. but college keeps things hidden until game day. have to stay on the local papers of every contestant involved. and this takes many hours a week. if there is any grey i fade. every situation for a contest has to be right. and there are some tough lines. but there are some weak ones too. that is what i try to expose. hell some may be able to pick many games every week, but for myself and all the sharps i have known pick a few. and all books philosophy is simply "THE MORE YOU PLAY, THE MORE YOU PAY". just my opinion. nice thread and positive opinions. always glad to share mine.

Not to wake up any "ghosts" or get a few of the old timers feathers ruffled but I was just surprised to see that no-one threw out a name that would be considered both popular and controversial depending on who you ask.... and that would be "the rodfather" (who I'm sure will pop up here any day now).

Just about everyone mentioned is good and clearly knows what they are doing. I like to read everyone's opinion on games I like and in the past have followed people who were on a roll when I couldn't get it going myself. One name that sticks out in my mind from last year's NFL playoffs and Bowl Games was a guy named GEEK who had a nice run going.

Like I said, everyone brings something to the table and I would have to agree that just about everyone mentioned is solid.
I also am one that doesn't post every play I make in a weekend, and will usually play what I like, even if that means 10 to 12 games.

Good Luck to everyone this season, it should be a good one!

BTF.

Everyone on here has looked over the best capper in college sports...GLENLOVESCOLLEEN. This guy was money last year with college football, and he carried it into college hoops. He is definitely a 1-2 game a week capper, but I agree with the slvrgoblin, too many games=too much info processing. Which leads to slopey capping.
I also give props to Dr. Death and the Panther. NY Reb has some good weeks.
I hope we all find a few more good cappers this year. This sight is growing and with that so is the info...
Have a great season everyone. And let's just hope that we see glenlovescolleen in here sometime soon.

I don't necessarily follow
specific "cappers", but I
like to read all of the
posts, to get as much information
as possible, even the bad "cappers"
have something to offer.

I think it is very important to understand a bettor's strategy and there is some good info being shared. Keep it going guys. Feel free to share your strategy and your strengths and weaknesses.

Some guys pick very few games and dance with 60%. I used to select 3-5 games a week, and there is nothing wrong with this.

Now, I base just about everything on moneylines, if the ML is off then generally I look at the spread as a hedge. There are exceptions, but that is generally how this market is based, the spread is a function of the ML. It's complicated to explain, but this is one of the reasons that I place so many wagers. If the ML is 10 cents off then... I also use some weighted middles. If I feel a spread will move across a key number or move 3 points or more I may put a little extra on a lead then come back later on the other side hoping to capture both. I usually wager more on BIGXII games once I see the teams a little, especially when I see the same things that Shortbus, Silvergoblin and others do. To be honest, I'm stronger in the NFL, the teams play each other over and over again they are more predictable IMO. I have hit over 55% in the NCAA every year, and I hope it continues. Be careful with the Sooner guys, nothing good ever comes from that school, j/k
