Best Bets for 1/1/04

Been watching how the conferences are playing out this bowl season. And have made a couple of conclusions...one the BIG 10 is down this year and the PAC 10 is underrated. I also feel that the SEC maybe the best conference and the BIG 12 not as good as I thought. I also think that the ACC could be the sleeper conference again and that the Big East is weak. With this in mind

MY BEST BETS:

Ark -2.5 Hogs will be ready to make amends for last year debaccle. I think their OL will control Missouri's defense. Big day for Cobb.
Arkansas 35 Missouri 24

BC -1 Big East team should be able to handle a very disappointing CSU team.

Florida -3 (bought) Florida to much team speed
for Iowa. Leaks not a freshmen anymore.
Florida 31 Iowa 21

Maryland -3 (bought) Give Ralph a month and he will have some new wrinkles on offense. They beat WV once this year and they will do it again.

Georgia -3 (bought) Geogia to much speed for Purdue. This one will be close.
Georgia 24 Purdue 20

USC -7 You seen what happened to Michigan when they played a speed team in Oregon. Same thing will happen against a superior USC team.
USC 38 Michigan 17

FSU -2 If FSU doesn't make as many mistakes as they did the first time they played Miami they should win.
FSU 28 Miami 24

He is 12-5 ATS. If only I would have trusted some of his plays I would have been on fire, but me thinking father nows best, I went the other way and paid dearly. We agree on the FSU and Mississippi games, other than that not sure what I am going to do. Every time I go against his plays I lose.

Tried to Middle the USC game and it cost some of my winnings. At least I still made some money on USC. To many of my friends scared me off USC big. I guess next time I just listen to me.

like I said in my earlier write up that the ACC maybe the sleeper conference. They are are 3-1 SU and ATS. Their only lost being FSU. FSU's lost is nothing to be ashamed of as they lost at Miami. I also said that the SEC might be the best conference, I think the PAC10 may have changed my mind. Anyway, after looking at Clemson's and Tennessee's more closely and reading RX's tread, I have to agree with him and am making Clemson +5 a BEST BET.

Swept the boards today!!!

Tomorrows GT/Tulsa game has more on the line then just the Humanitarian Bowl Title. The winner of that game will give their respective conference the ESPN Bowl Challenge Championship! The WAC is 3-0 and the ACC is 4-1. The MAC is 2-0 but to qualify for the Challenge your conference has to be in a minimum of three bowl games. Can you imagine the WAC winning this!!!

Not sure what side I will play if I play at all. One thing for sure the ACC has been kicking some booty this bowl season.

My boy went 3-0 today. He is 15-7 in Bowl games. He likes GT tomorrow, and LSU on Sunday. Not sure of my side for tomorrow but I was leaning towards GT.

Stoops or Saban?

I think that Bob Stoops is the best one game coach in College Football! Last year he defensive scheme confused and harassed WSU's Gesser all game..OKlahoma wins 34-14. Two years ago against Arkansas his defense allows 3 points. Three years ago in the National Championship game against FSU he confused and harassed Heisman Trophy winner Weinke and Oklahoma wins 17-2. What scares me is that this defense is suppose to be his best ever? And he had one month to prepare for LSU.

I think two much is being made about the KState game. They had one bad game and some of that might of been because of the distraction of defense coordinator Mike Stoops getting the Arizona job that same week. LSU has had a few games when they looked average. Against Florida and the first Georgia game. They lost to Florida and should have lost to Georgia (Georgia kicker missed three FG's). So both teams are beatable.
