I've watched bishop as much as anyone the last year (new to hockey but now bolts season ticket holder) I really like Bishop. What I like most about him is how few "rebound" opportunities he gives opponents compared to the other goalies I've seen live. I think he has a strange body language though. he almost seems to mediate on breaks. On thing that annoys me about the team, or him is after a goal how quickly we give up a goal. He makes enough really good saves, but I think our defense is underrated. Obviously length tends to both shots on goal, feel like often teams try to make the perfect shot on him.

that stat is shocking, but idk if Id follow based on that. 1, regression to the mean... 2 the unique situation of Callahan/St Louis.. plus these teams just played last week and TB was electric... Seems like a good revenge spot for NYR...

I think Bolts are the best team in the East though... maybe biased... their young guys can even overshadow Stamkos... Only thing I feel like we struggle with is physical teams... My hockey knowledge isn't good enough talk about other teams, usually I have to see them live before I have an opinion. Just my 2 cents.

The two things that impress me about Bishop is his size and how much of the net he can cover. And, (as you point out), his ability to hold on to the puck. Nothing is more important than being like a vacuum cleaner if you’re a goalie. Some of the best setups you can see, resulting in a goal, are from rebounds. Ben Bishop has always been a highly regarded. I don’t think the Sens really wanted to give him up but they were in a position of having too many goalies and had to make a tough choice. They also had Robin Lehner and Craig Anderson. Bishop is only going to get better.

Agree with you on two more things. Tampa Bay is the best team in the east. No doubt in my mind. Their depth rivals any team in the NHL. Also it is a great revenge spot for the Rangers. But at even money, I’m feeling like I’m getting it in with the best of it. No slight on the Rangers but the Bolts are the better team.

I’m envious of you being able to watch them live whenever you want. I’ve been waiting for a NHL team to watch in Vegas for 30 years. Looks promising that I’ll get my wish in 3 or so years. Enjoy the game. Go Bolts.

With all our talk about Bishop’s ability to smother the puck, well...there wasn’t much of that going on last night.

Put this W in the offensive column.
