</header>CLEVELAND – The Chicago Bears traded up with the New York Giants and selected Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields with the 11th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Bears traded their 20th overall pick, a 2022 first-round pick, a 2021 fifth-round pick and a 2022 fourth-round pick.
After breaking up with quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who signed to Buffalo this offseason, Pace and company signed veteran Andy Dalton and promised him the starting job.

He now has instant competion from a former Heisman contender and top recruit coming out of Georgia.
The former Buckeye rushed for over 1,100 yards career yards, bringing far better athleticism into the quarterback room than Foles and Dalton. He was clocked at a 4.46 40-yard dash recently.
Fields is known for being an accurate passer with over a 70-percent completion percentage last year, leading Ohio State to the National Championship game. They lost to Mac Jones, who went to New England at 15th overall, and Alabama 52-24.
Fields was the fourth quarterback selected; following Trevor Lawrence to the Jaguars at no.1, Zach Wilson at no. 2 and and Trey Lance at no. 3.
He will look to compete with Dalton right away during the Bears’ first 17-game season ever.

I'm not a huge Fields fan but 2 things I know for sure.

1) He has an infinitely higher ceiling than Mitch (and I actually like Mitch and thought he was poorly utilized)
2) I think getting him at 11 was a pretty high-value proposition (not commenting on what they gave up to trade up)

metro now that Belichick decided Mac is the Jones you gotta keep up with, you thinking maybe he's the QB of the future

He and his family were so happy to be drafted yesterday. You would have thought someone had died by their reaction.

Once a lifetime moment that they snubbed their noses to. I have a deeper appreciation for Najee Harris who held his celebration party at the homeless shelter he and his family lived at for four years. That's what I call never forgetting where you came from, something Fields and his family could use a bit of humbling with.

Dropped all the way to 11 , drafted by a team that his agent said was one of a few worse case scenarios

Haven't heard that about the agent remarks. What makes Chicago such a bad place to be.

In comparison to SF , NE etc .. Coach on hot seat and desperate .. learn a system year 1 , turn around and have a new system year 2 ..

just not ideal

They should have taken tall pocket passer Jones, played in an NFL style offense, quick release, quick decision maker going through reads.

Fields does not come from NFL style and if Fields tries to run too much he will not last.

That is what happened to Trubisky, he was dinged all the time.

SEE: RG3, Wentz, Vick, a lot of em.

Mahomes needs to stop running so much he was dinged for the Super Bowl.

Watson figured it out, became a good pocket passer. Wilson kept running and made it work he went down before contact.
